👍 COVID-19 Is a Bummer – But, Good Things Keep Happening
I’m social distancing. I wear a mask when I go to grocery. Soon, I’ll be tying my hair in ponytail. I see brothers and sisters from every race, nation, and place on earth suffering and it tears at my heart. Yah, COVID-19 is a bummer. I refuse to let it turn me into a prune (no offense intended prunes). Starting today, I’m going to list a few good things I witnessed happening or happened to me during the day. I think good things are happening to you. If you’d like to share the good things you’ve witnessed on my blog, Email me (ray.brese@gmail.com) a short list (1 to 5 things. I’ll post and attribute them to you in the way you choose to be acknowledged (e.g., anonymous, name, Word Press blog (etc.).
Good Things Are Happening
- I saw a dad running with his son.
- The red roses on my rosebush near a statue of the Virgin Mary are in full bloom.
- I saw my neighbor this morning (I kept a social distance) and she told me she is recovered from COVID-19.
- I got toilet paper at the supermarket today – Yippee!
- When I went for my walk, I wished every one I saw good health and my greetings were returned.
I had a great day. I hope you have as well.
Today’s Poem ~ We Two
We Two
Ella Wheeler Wilcox
We two make home of any place we go;
We two find joy in any kind of weather;
Or if the earth is clothed in bloom or snow,
If summer days invite, or bleak winds blow,
What matters it if we two are together?
We two, we two, we make our world, our weather.
We two make banquets of the plainest fare;
In every cup we find the thrill of pleasure;
We hide with wreaths the furrowed brow of care,
And win to smiles the set lips of despair.
For us life always moves with lilting measure;
We two, we two, we make our world, our pleasure.
We two find youth renewed with every dawn;
Each day holds something of an unknown glory.
We waste no thought on grief or pleasure gone;
Tricked out like hope, time leads us on and on,
And thrums upon his harp new song or story.
We two, we two, we find the paths of glory.
We two make heaven here on this little earth;
We do not need to wait for realms eternal.
We know the use of tears, know sorrow’s worth,
And pain for us is always love’s rebirth.
Our paths lead closely by the paths supernal;
We two, we two, we live in love eternal.
Today’s Smile 😃
My Dad said to me, “Son, I wanted you to know you were adopted.”
I shouted, “You’re kidding! Really?”
He said, “Yes. Get your things together, they’re coming to pick you up in an hour.”
Today’s Poem ~ The Only News I Know
The Only News I Know
Emily Dickinson
The only news I know Is bulletins all day From Immortality. The only shows I see, Tomorrow and Today, Perchance Eternity. The only One I meet Is God, -the only street, Existance; this traversed If other news there be, Or admirabler show - I'll tell it you.
🌞 Today’s Inspiration ~ Something Good is Coming
“For each thorn, there’s a rosebud… For each twilight – a dawn… For each trial – the strength to carry on, For each storm cloud – a rainbow… For each shadow – the sun… For each parting – sweet memories when sorrow is done.”
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
🍎 Health Tip ~ Add This Superfood to Your Daily Diet
Each day I make a spinach salad with an avocado, olives, celery, and tomatoes. I mix it with EVOO and Balsamic vinegar. No wonder I’m in perpetual motion. LOL
Superfood: Spinach
You’ll find lots of nutrients in this “super food.” One of them is folate, which helps your body make new cells and repair DNA. It also boasts fiber, antioxidants such as vitamin C, and more. Eat spinach raw or lightly cooked to get the most benefit.
🤗 Feel Good Hack ~ The Sun Will Shine Again
“I want to believe that I’m not wrong. I want to believe that life isn’t full of darkness. Even if storms come to pass, the sun will shine again. No matter how painful and hard the rain may beat down on me.” Natsuik Takaya
✒️ Writers’ Wisdom ~ Learning by Doing
“If you don’t allow yourself the possibility of writing something very, very bad, it would be hard to write something very good.” ~ Steven Galloway
