š¾ Today’s Poem ~ Holy Sonnet 10: Death, Be Not Proud
Holy Sonnet 10: Death, Be Not Proud
John Donne
Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;
For those whom thou thinkāst thou dost overthrow
Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,
Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee do go,
Rest of their bones, and soulās delivery.
Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell,
And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well
And better than thy stroke; why swellāst thou then?
One short sleep past, we wake eternally
And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.

š Today’s Health ~ This or That: Baked Potato or Brown Rice?
Which Has Fewer Calories:
- A baked potato.
- Brown rice.
- Both about the same.
The answer:
A Baked Potato
One baked potato has about half the calories of a serving of brown rice. If you eat the skin, you’ll also get more vitamin C, fiber, and potassium, which is good for heart health.Ā To keep them a healthy choice, don’t fry them, and avoid slathering on butter and full-fat sour cream. Instead, offer fresh salsa and low-fat cheese or plain low-fat yogurt and chives for zesty flavor and less fat.
