✒️ Writers’ Wisdom ~ How Deep Is Your Desire to Write?

“Cats gotta scratch. Dogs gotta bite. I gotta write.”

🌾 Today’s Poem ~ Don’t Take Your Troubles to Bed

Don’t Take Your Troubles to Bed

Edmund Vance Cooke

You may labor your fill, friend of mine, if you will;
You may worry a bit, if you must;
You may treat your affairs as a series of cares,
You may live on a scrap and a crust;But when the day’s done, put it out of your head;
Don’t take your troubles to bed.
You may batter your way through the thick of the fray,
You may sweat, you may swear, you may grunt;
You may be a jack-fool if you must, but this rule
Should ever be kept at the front:—
Don’t fight with your pillow, but lay down your head
And kick every worriment out of the bed.
That friend or that foe (which he is, I don’t know),
Whose name we have spoken as Death,
Hovers close to your side, while you run or you ride,
And he envies the warmth of your breath;
But he turns him away, with a shake of his head,
When he finds that you don’t take your troubles to bed.

👊 Today’s Power Thought ~ Good Things Are Up Ahead, Hold On!

Disappointments happen. There is no vaccine for it. Shrug it off. Take a moment to learn something from it. Then move on. Better things are waiting for you.

🍎 Today’s Health Question ~ Will Drinking Excessively Harm Your Immune System?

True or False: Drinking to excess will harm our body’s ability to fight infection.

Answer TRUE: Drinking in moderation is OK. But consuming alcohol in excess can lead to the deterioration of your immune system, Stanford says. There’s evidence from both human and animal research that overconsumption of alcohol decreases immune reactivity, reducing the body’s ability to fight infection, Wedner says. The 2015-20 Dietary Guidelines for Americans advises women who choose to drink to have no more than one a day; men should consume no more than two drinks a day.

🤗 A Better Life ~ Home Is a Special Place

There’s light years of difference between living in a house and living in a home. A home is a place where I feel welcome. It is a place of safety and refuge. It is a place where I am loved as I am, bruises, scrapes, scars and all. A Home is a place of love and forgiveness. It’s not the size of the house that’s important. It’s the size of the hearts inside the house that make it a home.

🌾 Today’s Poem ~ Comfort

Comfort

Robert W. Service

Say! You've struck a heap of trouble —
    Bust in business, lost your wife;
   No one cares a cent about you,
    You don't care a cent for life;
   Hard luck has of hope bereft you,
    Health is failing, wish you'd die —
   Why, you've still the sunshine left you
    And the big, blue sky.

   Sky so blue it makes you wonder
    If it's heaven shining through;
   Earth so smiling 'way out yonder,
    Sun so bright it dazzles you;
   Birds a-singing, flowers a-flinging
    All their fragrance on the breeze;
   Dancing shadows, green, still meadows —
    Don't you mope, you've still got these.

   These, and none can take them from you;
    These, and none can weigh their worth.
   What! you're tired and broke and beaten? —
    Why, you're rich — you've got the earth!
   Yes, if you're a tramp in tatters,
    While the blue sky bends above
   You've got nearly all that matters —
    You've got God, and God is love.

👊 Today’s Power Thought ~ Get a Move On!

I going to get on it, go after it, and chase it until I hit my goal. No stopping. No quitting. No giving up.
