A Better Life ~ Feeding Positive Emotions

It is a human experience to rehash previous negative experiences. When we do this, we feed our negative emotions. What if we changed the way we looked at the past? What if we rehashed positive experiences? Those times when life was good. Those times when we were successful. Bring those videos to your mind and you will be feeling positive emotions.

Today’s Good Words ~ Never Quit

The surest sign of defeat is quitting. Quitting is always easier than pushing through the rough moments. The rough moments are often dark, filled with anxiety, and clouded with doubt. It takes courage to stay the course and not quit. we can’t be guaranteed of the outcome, but we can be assured that we have a chance to succeed if we keep on grinding. Never quit, never give up.

Today’s Health Tip ~ Foods to Avoid Right Before Bedtime

8 Foods that may interfere with a Good’s Night’s Sleep

If you’re hankering for a bedtime snack or beverage, don’t just grab the first thing that sounds good. While some foods — a light, carby snack like crackers or an apple — can actually help your sleep, many others can disrupt your sleep, causing nightmares, an irritated tummy, insomnia and sleep-interrupting trips to the potty.

Today’s Smile

Joe: “My girlfriend text me and told me she was breaking up with me.”

Pete: “That’s too bad, Joe.”

Joe: “Not really. She text right back and said not to worry, the text was meant for someone else.”

Today’s Poem ~ Gazing at the Great Mount

Gazing at the Great Mount

Tu Fu

 To what shall I compare
The Sacred Mount that stands,
A balk of green that hath no end,
Betwixt two lands!
Nature did fuse and blend
All mystic beauty there,
Where Dark and Light
Do dusk and dawn unite.

Gazing, soul-cleansed, at Thee
From clouds upsprung, one may
Mark with wide eyes the homing flight
Of birds. Some day
Must I thy topmost height
Mount, at one glance to see
Hills numberless
Dwindle to nothingness.

Today’s Poem ~ Hymn 151

Hymn 151

Isaac Watts

Prophecy and inspiration.

‘Twas by an order from the Lord
The ancient prophets spoke his word;
His Spirit did their tongues inspire,
And warmed their hearts with heav’nly fire.

The works and wonders which they wrought
Confirmed the messages they brought;
The prophet’s pen succeeds his breath,
To save the holy words from death.

Great God, mine eyes with pleasure look
On the dear volume of thy book;
There my Redeemer’s face I see,
And read his name who died for me.

Let the false raptures of the mind
Be lost, and vanish in the wind;
Here I can fix my hope secure;
This is thy word, and must endure.

Something to Think About

I like being around folks who question everything. They make me think. I may not like their questions, but their questions encourage me to find answers. I become an inquirer. When I begin to ask questions, I open the world of possibilities. Who knows what I’ll find. Only the courageous dare to travel this road. They know what they’ve held on to may no longer be valid.

Today’s Good Word ~ Lost

When I was a young child my family took an outing to the ocean. I wandered along the seashore and became lost. I couldn’t find my way back to my parents. I started to cry. Some nice people brought me to the police station and ask the police to help me find my parents. I felt comforted being with the police. They were confident it would all work out. Their confidence was contagious. It wasn’t long before I was reunited with my family. It’s not fun being lost. It’s more fun being found. And, it’s more fun being found by people who love you. I hope you all are found today

A Better Life ~ Who’s Happier

Take a look at all the rich ball players and celebrities, I don’t see too many happy ones. Obviously money is not making them happy, it’s making them rich. There’s a big difference. I know lots of common folks who are a lot happier with a lot less. What’s the difference? I think one of the differences is that the happy people take life as it is and enjoy it.
