Today’s Word ~ Surround

Surround means to be everywhere around something. We are all surrounded. What kinds of people surround you? Are they supportive, encouraging, inspiring, and kind? If not, it may be time to change membership in the types of folks who surround you. What is the type of music that surrounds you? Does it motivate you? Does it give you an energy boost? Dose it elevate you and bring you joy? Or, does it make you angry, hyper, and flood your mind with thoughts that do not elevate you? Think of everything surrounding you, you have the power to begin renovating your surroundings.

Today’s Inspiration ~ Is It Time to Change?

“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”

Today’s Poem ~ Light

Light
Rabindranath Tagore
Light, my light, the world-filling light,
the eye-kissing light,
heart-sweetening light!

Ah, the light dances, my darling, at the center of my life;
the light strikes, my darling, the chords of my love;
the sky opens, the wind runs wild, laughter passes over the earth.

The butterflies spread their sails on the sea of light.
Lilies and jasmines surge up on the crest of the waves of light.

The light is shattered into gold on every cloud, my darling,
and it scatters gems in profusion.

Mirth spreads from leaf to leaf, my darling,
and gladness without measure.
The heaven’s river has drowned its banks
and the flood of joy is abroad.

Today’s Health Tip ~ Choose Whole Grain Breads

Whole Grain Breads are Part of a Healthy Diet

Make your diet a bit healthier by choosing whole grain bread in place of traditional refined grain bread.Refined grains have been associated with many health issues. Whole grains, on the other hand, have been linked to a variety of health benefits, including a reduced risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.They’re also a good source of:

    • fiber
    • B vitamins
    • minerals such as zinc, iron, magnesium, and manganese.

Make sure to read the label to ensure that your bread is made with whole grains only, not a mixture of whole and refined grains. It’s also preferable that the bread contains whole seeds or grains.

Something to Think About

Each of us are on a journey. Our journeys are unique. No one knows where our journey will lead. No one knows the challenges we’ll face. No one knows the eventual destination. Our journeys are a mystery. We may make a list of goals. We may write a clear description of our dreams. We may make out a clear map of our journey. But life has a way of grabbing hold of us and taking us in a different direction. Don’t fight the journey. Embrace the journey and it’s challenges, it belongs to you and no one else. Happy traveling.

Today’s Smile

Joe: “I’m going to the police station to look at some mug shots.”

Today’s Poem ~ Without You

Without You
Hermann Hesse
My Pillow gazes upon me at night
Empty as a gravestone;
I never thought it would be so bitter
To be alone,
Not to lie down asleep in your hair.

I lie alone in a silent house,
The hanging lamp darkened,
And gently stretch out my hands
To gather in yours,
And softly press my warm mouth
Toward you, and kiss myself, exhausted and weak-
Then suddenly I’m awake
And all around me the cold night grows still.
The star in the window shines clearly-
Where is your blond hair,
Where your sweet mouth?

Now I drink pain in every delight
And poison in every wine;
I never knew it would be so bitter
To be alone,
Alone, without you.
