Today’s Poem ~ Loss and Gain
What I have lost with what I have gained,
What I have missed with what attained,
Little room do I find for pride.I am aware
How many days have been idly spent;
How like an arrow the good intent
Has fallen short or been turned aside.
But who shall dare
To measure loss and gain in this wise?
Defeat may be victory in disguise;
The lowest ebb is the turn of the tide.
Today’s Inspiration ~ Life is an Experiment
“All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.”
A Better Life ~ Let it Go
Hurt feelings, a quick temper, and an uncontrolled tongue are a sure fire way to lose a friend or family member. We all get our feelings hurt. We don’t have to let it simmer. If we let it go, we can continue to grow our relationship. Love always wins.

What if I loved myself as much as love those close to me?
“You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection (Buddha).” What if I loved myself as much as I love those close to me? We don’t think about loving ourselves. Yet, loving ourself means we’re able to forgive ourself, act compassionately and kind toward ourselves, and encourage ourself. When we love ourself we don’t subtract from loving others, we enable ourself to love others more deeply.
Think About It
In this digital age, nothing is hidden, it’s all out in the open for public consumption. We’re recorded on videos with and without our knowledge. Our online behavior is tracked by countless agencies. Every time we use our credit card, change channels, or make a call, someone is listening or watching. Privacy is a thing of past. We can’t run away from it, it’s ubiquitous. We accept it as part of a new order. We may not be able to change it, but we can shape, to some extent, how we deal with it. If we live our lives in a way that upholds integrity, honor, and responsibility we can walk through the morass of the lack of privacy with our heads held high.
Today’s Joke
Joe: “I really like teamwork.”
Pete: “How so, Joe?”
Joe: “I aways get to blame someone else when things go wrong.”
A Better Life ~ Engaging with Others
A friend mentioned that his father finds people where he lives (assisted care) unfriendly. His father claims the other residents don’t like to talk. I questioned my friend and found out that his father is waiting for people to come to him and engage him in a conversation. Unfortunately, it’s not the way it works. One has to step out and engage others. It’s how we connect. The more we engage others, the more we become connected and a part of our community. It really is a life changing action.
What if I started doing the things I’ve been afraid to do?
What if I started doing the things I’ve been afraid to do? Fear holds us back. We make our fears real by creating an ending that hasn’t happened. When we buy into our false fears we become paralyzed to act. It’s not so much as facing a fear as it is in facing ourselves. Look in the mirror and give the man or woman who is looking back at you permission to act. When we act against our fears, we become stronger and more confident. It’s no big deal if one fails, failure is only fatal when we quit trying. Try and try again.
