Feeling Good Tip ~ Doing Good Makes You Feel Good

Whenever I travel I see and meet so many wonderful people. On a recent flight, a tall man, lifted luggage out of the overhead bins for several older people. One passenger hollered, “Ma’am, you forgot your scarf. The woman was almost to the front of the plane. We all waited while the scarf was passed forward. A grateful woman took the scarf and said thank you. An elderly woman asked if someone could pass her luggage forward. It had been stored in overhead bin several rows behind her seat. Immediately, someone opened the bin, asked, “is this yours?” She said, “Yes.” The luggage was passed forward. There are many good people and they are the glue that holds it all together. I know you are one of the good people.

Healthy Lifestyle Tip ~ Is Kombucha Healthy?

What does the research say about kombucha tea?

According to Mayo Clinic, “Kombucha tea is a fermented drink made with tea, sugar, bacteria and yeast. To make the drink, bacteria and yeast must first grow together to form a culture. The culture is added to the sugar and tea. Then the mix is allowed to ferment. The end result is a liquid that has vinegar, B vitamins and many other types of acids, including amino acids. Supporters claim that kombucha tea helps prevent and treat health conditions, from blood pressure to cancer. There is limited data on kombucha tea. A small amount of research suggests that kombucha tea may give benefits similar to probiotic supplements. For example, some research suggests kombucha tea may support a healthy immune system and prevent constipation. But there are few valid medical studies of kombucha tea’s role in human health.

Thinking Out Loud ~ Be Yourself

You are a Living Miracle

In his work, Self Reliance, Ralph Waldo Emerson writes, “These roses under my window make no reference to former roses or to better ones; they are for what they are; they exist with God to-day. There is no time to them. There is simply the rose; it is perfect in every moment of its existence. Before a leaf-bud has burst, its whole life acts; in the full-blown flower there is no more; in the leafless root there is no less. Its nature is satisfied, and it satisfies nature, in all moments alike.” P. 132

NOTE: Be yourself. You can be no other if you are living authentically. Live in the present and allow yourself to grow into something more miraculous each day. You are a beautiful living miracle.

Feel Good Tip ~ Smile, You’ll Be Happier

There is a Link Between Smiling and Happiness

“It may seem obvious that smiling, the outward expression of happiness, makes us feel happy but what does the science say? The definitive answer came in in 2019 when researchers from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville decided to look back at 138 studies carried out around the world involving more than 11,000 volunteers and covering a period of 50 years. They concluded that our facial expressions do indeed impact our mood and our emotions: frowning makes us feel sadder, scowling makes us feel angrier and smiling makes us happier. As the researchers pointed out this doesn’t mean we can literally smile our way to happiness, but it is evidence that our minds and bodies are intimately linked when we experience emotions. ” Source

NOTE: I don’t see many happy people. I go to the supermarket, few people smile. I sit in a coffee shop and see young people smiling much more than older people. I go to the gym, same thing. When I see someone smiling, it makes me smile. I also notice that when I smile at another, I usually get a smile in return. Smile and remind folks that smiling makes us feel better. You’ll be doing them a favor.

Poem for Today ~ Renewal of Strength

Renewal of Strength

Frances Ellen Watkins Harper

The prison-house in which I live
Is falling to decay,
But God renews my spirit’s strength
Within these walls of clay.

For me a dimness slowly creeps
Around earth’s fairest light,
But heaven grows clearer to my view,
And fairer to my sight.

It may be earth’s sweet harmonies
Are duller to my ear,
But music from my Father’s house
Begins to float more near.

Then let the pillars of my home
Crumble and fall away;
Lo, God’s dear love within my soul
Renews it day by day.
