Today’s Poem: If I Could Live My Life Again – Anonymously Attributed

If I could Live My Life Again

Anonymous

If I could live again my life,
In the next – I’ll try,
– to make more mistakes,
I won’t try to be so perfect,
I’ll be more relaxed…
I’ll take fewer things seriously..
I’ll take more risks,
I’ll take more trips,
I’ll watch more sunsets,
I’ll climb more mountains,
I’ll swim more rivers,
I’ll go to more places I’ve never been
I’ll eat more ice cream I’ll have more real problems and less imaginary ones If I could live again – I will travel light
If I could live again – I’ll try to work bare feet at the beginning of spring till the end of autumn,
I’ll watch more sunrises …If I have the life to live

Climbing the Mountain of Grief: Insights from a Solo Journey | Episode 95

In Episode 95 of “Journey from Grief to Healing,” Dr. Ray Calabrese explores the solitary nature of grieving through a powerful metaphor of climbing a mountain. The episode opens with reflections on how grieving, though often shared in groups or with friends, remains a profoundly personal journey. It also touches on the frustration with political actions, like a bill being sidetracked, which brings personal grief back into sharp focus, especially regarding lost loved ones like “Babe,” who battled glioblastoma.

Dr. Ray draws parallels between his physical journey climbing in the Rocky Mountain National Park and his emotional journey through grief. The narrative weaves together themes of isolation, the unending nature of grief, and the unexpected camaraderie found with fellow travelers—both on the hiking trail and in life. The episode concludes with a philosophical reflection inspired by Bear Grylls and Sir Edmund Hillary on drawing strength from the mountain, emphasizing resilience and the transformative power of enduring life’s toughest climbs.

Today’s Thought: Let’s Read

“A book, too, can be a star, a living fire to lighten the darkness, leading out into the expanding universe.” ― Madeleine L’Engle

I enjoy reading. My mom took me to the library when I was in 1st grade and made sure I had a library card. I’ve enjoyed reading books ever since. I like mysteries and adventure thrillers. If a writer brings humor into his/her work, that’s also a winner for me. I have my favorite authors. I know I’ll like their characters. A few years back when a favorite author died, I felt like should go into mourning for the wonderful characters he created. I knew their lives ended with his. Check out your library. Discover some new authors. I wonder what adventures they’ll take you on.

Inspiring Quote: What Do You Really Want?

The thing you set your mind on is the thing you ultimately become. ~ Nathaniel Hawthorne

Today’s Poem: Character by Ralph Waldo Emerson

Character

Ralph Waldo Emerson

The sun set, but set not his hope:
Stars rose; his faith was earlier up:
Fixed on the enormous galaxy,
Deeper and older seemed his eye;
And matched his sufferance sublime
The taciturnity of time.
He spoke, and words more soft than rain
Brought the Age of Gold again:
His action won such reverence sweet
As hid all measure of the feat.

Today’s Thought: Voting is a Human Right

I voted today. It was a school board election. I never pass up an opportunity to vote. Voting is both a right and a privilege. My candidates don’t always win. At least my voice will be heard through my vote. When we vote, we are casting a vote for our preferred candidate(s) and we are simultaneously casting (though not counted) a vote for democracy. When the opportunity presents itself to you, vote. Exercise your human right to express your voice for the candidate(s) of your choice. The right to vote is too precious to ignore.
