Today’s Thought: Keep Grinding

I am the tire store getting. a tire fixed. The company covered the cost for a tire replacement. That was a $200 savings. What started out as a problem turned out all right. You never know, so keep on grinding. It all will work out and something even better than you expected will happen.

Today’s Poem: Don’t Go Far Off by Pablo Neruda

Don’t Go Far Off

Pablo Neruda

Don’t go far off, not even for a day, because –
because – I don’t know how to say it: a day is long
and I will be waiting for you, as in an empty station
when the trains are parked off somewhere else, asleep.

Don’t leave me, even for an hour, because
then the little drops of anguish will all run together,
the smoke that roams looking for a home will drift
into me, choking my lost heart.

Oh, may your silhouette never dissolve on the beach;
may your eyelids never flutter into the empty distance.
Don’t leave me for a second, my dearest,

because in that moment you’ll have gone so far
I’ll wander mazily over all the earth, asking,
Will you come back? Will you leave me here, dying?

Health Facts: DYK These 2 Health Benefits of Eating Ginger?

Here are two lesser-known health benefits of consuming ginger:

  1. Improves Brain Function: Ginger contains antioxidants and bioactive compounds that may inhibit inflammatory responses in the brain, potentially reducing age-related decline in brain function. Some studies suggest ginger could enhance memory and cognitive function in middle-aged women, making it a beneficial spice for overall mental sharpness.
  2. Helps Combat Nausea from Chemotherapy: While ginger is commonly known for easing general nausea, research has shown it to be particularly effective in reducing nausea associated with chemotherapy treatment, helping patients better tolerate their regimen.

Today’s Joke: Joe’s Dad was in the Army

Pete: “Was it hard?”

Joe: “Yah, he was shooting at us.”

Today’s Thought: We Are Who We Are

A friend is leaving for a trip. My friend is excited to be going places my friend has not previously visited or seen. Travel is important. It takes us away from what are used to seeing. It opens us up to different cultures and customs. Wherever my friend will travel, one thing will be constant, people may have different languages, but we’re all the same. We cry when we’re sad. We rejoice when we’re happy. If we don’t like the folks near us, we probably won’t like the folks far away from us. If we’re open to diversity and different perspectives when we’re home, chances are we’ll feel comfortable any place on planet Earth.

Today’s Poem: Dreams by Langston Hughes

Dreams

Langston Hughes

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
