Healthy Foods: 4 Healthy Foods That Improve Breathing

Here are four healthy foods that can help improve breathing and why they are beneficial:

1. Leafy Greens (Spinach, Kale, Swiss Chard)

🔹 Why? Leafy greens are rich in magnesium, which helps relax the muscles around the airways, making it easier to breathe. They also contain antioxidants that reduce lung inflammation.

2. Fatty Fish (Salmon, Mackerel, Sardines)

🔹 Why? These are high in omega-3 fatty acids, which have anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce airway inflammation and improve lung function, especially for those with asthma or other respiratory conditions.

3. Apples

🔹 Why? Apples are packed with quercetin, a flavonoid that can help reduce lung inflammation and protect against oxidative stress. Studies suggest that eating apples regularly may improve lung function and reduce the risk of asthma.

4. Ginger

🔹 Why? Ginger has natural anti-inflammatory and bronchodilatory properties, meaning it helps relax the airways and clear mucus buildup, making breathing easier. It’s also great for fighting respiratory infections.

Adding these foods to your diet can support lung health, reduce inflammation, and improve overall breathing efficiency! 🚀🍃🐟🍏

Healthy Tips: Diffuse the Angry Feeling by Pausing and Deep Breathing

Over the next few days I will be posting on ways to diffuse anger. Anger, especially when it is an emotional response without much thought does little, if anything, to improve a situation. When we can take the energy out of our anger or that of another, we have a better chance at working through the salient issues

Pause and Breathe – Anger triggers the body’s fight-or-flight response. Taking slow, deep breaths activates the parasympathetic nervous system, calming the body and mind. When dealing with an angry person, encourage them to breathe deeply by modeling calmness yourself.

Dealing With Angry or Overly Excited People

I’ve been watching YouTube videos by Caesar Milan. He’s known as the dog whisperer. In the videos he goes to a home where there is a dog with behavior problems. One of the techniques he emphasizes is to get the dog calm before trying to train the dog. He is patient as he waits for the dog to calm down before he takes the next step. It’s also a good strategy we can use when we are dealing with people who are angry or overly excited. We can help them to calm down by being calm ourselves. A good strategy is to be aware of our voice. If we talk lower and softer than the angry or excited person, we’ll gradually move them in that direction. They, like the dogs Caesar deals with will be easier to work with once they are in a calmer state.

Today’s Quote: Slow Down, Stay Awake, It’s All Good

What helps luck is a habit of watching for opportunities, of having a patient but restless mind, of sacrificing one’s ease or vanity, or uniting a love of detail to foresight, and of passing through hard times bravely and cheerfully. ~Victor Cherbuliez

Healthy Foods: Four Foods that Help Maintain Healthy Intestines

A strong and healthy intestine is essential for digestion, nutrient absorption, and overall gut health. Here are four foods that fortify the intestines and why they help:

1. Fermented Foods (e.g., Yogurt, Kimchi, Sauerkraut, Kefir)

  • Why? Fermented foods contain probiotics, beneficial bacteria that support a balanced gut microbiome, improve digestion, and strengthen the intestinal barrier against harmful pathogens.

2. Oats

  • Why? Oats are rich in soluble fiber (beta-glucan), which promotes healthy digestion, nourishes gut bacteria, and helps maintain a strong intestinal lining by reducing inflammation.

3. Leafy Greens (e.g., Spinach, Kale, Swiss Chard)

  • Why? Leafy greens contain prebiotic fiber that feeds beneficial gut bacteria, as well as nitrate compounds that help protect the intestinal lining and reduce gut inflammation.

4. Chia Seeds

  • Why? Chia seeds are packed with fiber and omega-3 fatty acids, which help regulate bowel movements, strengthen the gut lining, and support beneficial bacteria in the intestines.

Here are four gut-friendly meal ideas incorporating the foods that fortify the intestines:

1. Probiotic-Powered Breakfast Bowl (Fermented Foods + Chia Seeds)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt (or dairy-free alternative with probiotics)
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • ½ cup blueberries (rich in antioxidants)
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp walnuts (adds healthy fats)

🔹 Why it’s great: Probiotics from yogurt strengthen gut bacteria, chia seeds provide fiber and omega-3s, and antioxidants support gut health.

2. Gut-Healing Oatmeal with Cinnamon & Bananas (Oats + Chia Seeds)

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup oats
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 cup almond milk or water
  • ½ banana, sliced (prebiotic fiber)

  • ½ avocado (healthy fats for gut lining)
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 cup coconut water (hydration)

Healthy Tips: Own Up to Your Mistakes – It Builds Trust

Trust doesn’t require perfection, but it does require accountability when mistakes happen. Apologize and Make Amends When You Mess Up ` Why it matters: Nobody is perfect, but owning up to mistakes strengthens trust.

Romantic Relationship Example:

If you forget an important date or say something hurtful, don’t make excuses. Instead, say, “I’m really sorry for forgetting our anniversary. I see why that hurt you, and I’ll do better next time.”

Friendship Example:

If you accidentally cancel plans last-minute, acknowledge it: “I know I let you down by canceling today. I should have planned better. Can I make it up to you?” A sincere apology restores trust.

Remember ~ A Poem by Christina Rossetti

Remember

Christina Rossetti

Remember me when I am gone away,

Gone far away into the silent land;

When you can no more hold me by the hand,

Nor I half turn to go, yet turning stay.

Remember me when no more day by day

You tell me of our future that you plann’d:

Only remember me; you understand

It will be late to counsel then or pray.

Yet if you should forget me for a while

And afterwards remember, do not grieve:

For if the darkness and corruption leave

A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,

Better by far you should forget and smile

Than that you should remember and be sad.

Sorry, the Universe Didn’t Buy My Laptop—I Did

She saw a sign from the universe. I saw a receipt from Apple.. I’ve read books and watched YouTube videos about how people claim they manifest their desires and the universe delivers it to them. One time I took my Macbook air (gold color) to Starbucks, ordered my drink and sat down at an outside table. A woman sitting at an adjacent table glanced at me and my Macbook. She said, “Excuse me, but I was manifesting a gold Macbook air today and here it is. Can you believe it.” I gave her a nod and smile and opened my laptop and began working on my blog. My theory is, if you want something bad enough, you put in the time, sacrifice. and never quit. If you sit on a sofa or at a coffee shop table and manifest, good luck. Chase your dreams, pay your dues, and you’ll make them come true.
