Feel Good Tip of the Day ~ The Little Things Bring Us Great Joy

One of my daughters and her family recently traveled to South Africa. My daughter planned to run in a 50 mile race (after the race she said it was actually 55.1 miles, when you run that far, you take credit for every step!). She is a very good runner. The day prior to the race there was a 5K race. My daughter and her family all entered it, she viewed it as a warm up for the 50 mile race the next day. After the race a group of runners celebrated the 5k. She text me a brief video that I share with you because the runners expressed so much joy in their celebration dance. The little things bring us great joy.

Feel Good Tip for Today ~ An Early Start to the Day

I’m an early riser. I have always been one. I stepped outside this morning and saw some nice colors among the clouds [In San Antonio the clouds are present each morning during the hot summer months. They look like they’re promising rain, but they’re only tricksters – it’s hot and clear by 9 a.m.]. I took a slow mo video of the clouds and when I watched the video a bird suddenly appears in it, it climbed higher in the sky and darted away. I could the birds singing, they were in good voice.  I took it as a sign I was going to have a great day. Why not read a good sign into it. It’s the small things that bring great joy. Now, I’ll have my first and second cups of coffee. Oh, it’s going to be a great day.

Feel Good Tip of the Day ~ I Wake Up Feeling Happy

I wake up feeling happy. I wake up telling the day to get ready because here I come ready or not. I find things usually work out for me. I think it’s more in the attitude I take toward life than in my DNA.  I begin and end each day in gratitude. I try my best to connect with other people. My recipe is this: Smile frequently. Lend a helping hand where you can. Constantly talk to yourself feeding yourself with positive talk. Pray with a grateful heart. And, stay away from folks who stay angry and only see one side of a coin. And, don’t pay too much attention to the talking political heads. C’mon, you know it’s going to be a good day. It’s the only one we got.

Feel Good Tip of the Day ~ Make the Most of the Moment

Make the most of the moment. One never knows what tomorrow will bring. Filling the moment with love and kindness leaves a trail for others to follow. You’ll never lead them down a wrong path. Ignore the noise, ignore what doesn’t contribute to love and kindness. Tomorrow will work out, you’re building a strong foundation.

Feel Good Tip of the Day ~ We All Make Mistakes

We all make mistakes. It’s part of the human condition. There’s no way we can undo something we’ve already done or said. It’s why forgiveness is so important to every relationship. It’s important for us to forgive; and, equally important to be forgiven. That’s the tough stuff in relationship building. I knew a guy who divorced after 25 years. He claimed that working at a relationship is too hard. I felt sorry for him. Last I knew he lived alone with his dog. It takes courage to work through the messy stuff and forgive. It takes more courage to learn from the events and use the learning to build a better relationship.

Feel Good Tip of the Day ~ Reach Out

I have a friend some distance from where I live who was not feeling well. I connected with my friend via a chat venue and saw a remarkable difference in my friend’s features. My friend’s health greatly improved. I was happy. Hearing my friend was feeling better was the best news I could hear. If I didn’t reach out, I would not have experienced the joy of my friend’s recovery. Reach out and connect, you’ll feel better.

Feel Good Tip of Day ~ Don’t Give it Away

If you were in possession of rare diamond would you give it up without a struggle? We frequently give up something much more valuable than a rare diamond when we give the power to control our feelings to another. Someone makes a negative comment about our appearance and we get depressed. Someone criticizes our work or something we did, we get angry and carry resentment through the day into the night. Don’t give it away. Don’t let them take your happiness, your peace, or your self esteem. Smile, and think if that’s the best they can do, they’ve got a lot of work to do. Then get on with enjoying and embracing the wonderful life you are experiencing.

Feel Good Tip for Today ~ Iced Tea on a Hot Day

A quintessential refreshing drink on a hot day in south Texas is a large (and I mean Texas sized large) glass of iced tea. Close the laptop, put the smart phone on silent, pour yourself a large glass of cold iced tea. Take it outside, sit down, and let the world pass by for twenty minutes. Enjoy every savory moment. You’ll go back to whatever it was you were working on and being refreshed. Cheers. pardner!

Feel Good Tip for Today ~ Our Name is Our Identity

I don’t get it. Two people start talking and neither one asks the other his/her name. Our names are our identity. Our name is the tag given to us at birth. When someone says to me, “Hi, Ray, how’s it going?” I know this person is interested in me. One direct and easy way to overcome the loneliness and isolation we face in an increasing digital world is to take the first step and introduce ourselves to others who are in our social sphere. My formula is simple, “I see you often, my name is Ray, what’s yours?” Do it with a smile. You’ll make a new friend. You’ll have broken down a wall.

Feel Good Tip for the Day ~ Watch What You’re Watching

Watching movies or shows that stir up negative emotions may be entertaining but they’re not going to give one a sense of peace or contribute to a good’s night sleep. There are lots of other options. Have a conversation with the people with whom you live. Go for a walk. Watch music videos that give you a deep feel good feeling. You’ll feel a lot better and may even have a great night’s sleep.
