What’s on the menu? I hope having a great day is today’s special. Much like a great meal, a great day takes effort. It doesn’t happen until we decide to add all the special ingredients. These are the ingredients I put into my great day: (Hint:add generously) smiles, gratitude, kindnesses, reaching out to speak/connect to others, reading and viewing things that make me feel better. My great day just got greater writing this post.

Poem for Today ~ True Kindness is a Pure Divine Affinity
True Kindness is a Pure Divine Affinity
Henry David Thoreau
True kindness is a pure divine affinity,
Not founded upon human consanguinity
It is a spirit, not a blood relation,
Superior to family and station
Thinking Out Loud ~ It is a Great Mystery
Saint-Exupéry writes that it has been six years since the Little Prince left. He reflects on the Little Prince’s visit. He writes:
Sometimes I say to myself, “Once in a while we are distracted and that’s enough! He forgot, one night, the glass globe, or even the sheep came out silently during the night . . . . “ So the bells drown in tears!
Look at the sky. Ask yourself: “The sheep did or did not eat the flower?” And you will see how everything changes. And no grown up will ever understand that it is so important!
Note: We get so busy with the stuff of our life we forget to be distracted and discover the joys that surround us. The little Prince it’s always nearby, however, when we are too busy with all of our stuff we can’t see the little Prince and enjoy our conversations with him. Here’s hoping you find time in your life each day to be distracted and to discover the little Prince in your life.

Feel Good Tip ~ Helping Each Other is a Win-Win Experience
It Happened on the Way Home
I was driving home from the gym today. I’m in a great mood after my workout. The traffic is moving smoothly. I’m in the right hand lane. I stop for a red light. There are several cars in front of me and the lines in both lanes are getting longer. The light turns green, Oh, oh, there’s a sign ahead saying the right land is closed. I check my rearview mirror and start planning how I am going to edge into the left lane. What a minute, a guy in a black pickup truck in the left lane, just off my left shoulder, flashes his lights and lets me pull in. What a nice guy. I wave to him and tossed him a thumbs up. I had no choice, I did the same for a car in front of me wanting to pull into the lane. Helping each other is a win-win, feel good experience.

Feel Good Tip ~ Practicing Common Courtesies
The Little Things Add Up
Practicing common curtesies makes all the difference. One of the reasons I like living in south Texas is that folks still practice common courtesies. Rarely do I hear a horn blaring if someone is stopped at a red light and not paying attention to when it turns greens. Going in and out of a building it’s common to have someone hold the door for the next person coming through. And, people are not afraid to smile and greet each other with a good morning or buenas dias. It’s the little things that make one realize we’re all riding together on planet Earth and we just might make it if we’re a bit more friendly toward each other.
Feeling Good Tip ~ A Pleasant Surprise at the Supermarket
Taking Time to Connect
I went to the supermarket today. While I was pushing my cart through the produce section, this guy comes up and taps me on the shoulder. I look at him. He looks familiar. My brain is racing for a name and location. Fortunately, my brain didn’t have to race to far. It stopped at A. I said, “Hi, Al. How are you?” Al said, “You remembered me. I recognized you, but I don’t remember you name.” From there we blocked the area in front of the jalapeños and avocados and had a nice conversation. Ten minutes later we split. Taking time to have a catch up conversation is always a good thing. I felt good after talking with Al and I hope I he felt the same after speaking with me.
