Thinking Out Loud ~ Trust the Leap

Joseph Campbell says in Reflections on the Art of Living, “We must be willing to get rid of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us. The old skin has to be shed before the new one can come.” P. 18

Note: It’s difficult to give up something we’re used to and to work for something we’ve yet to full comprehend. It is like asking someone to give up dessert so they can acquire a healthier body. At first, giving up dessert is painful as the smells ,the sights, and the taste all work against giving it up. iI is the same in any aspect of our lives where we want to make a change. Sometimes we have to let go and leap into the future believing it will all turn out well. It will, trust the leap.

Inspiring Quote of the Day ~ Trust Yourself

“Your path and purpose will become crystal clear when you begin to trust your vision.”

~ Bill Walsh

Photo of the Day ~ The Gift of Being Trusted

When someone trust us, they believe we’ll act in their best interests. They believe they are safe when they are with us. They know they can count on us. It is a great honor to be trusted.

Today’s Positive Thought ~ Learning to Trust Ourselves

As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live (Goethe).”

Learning to trust ourselves takes time. It takes a lot of letting go. It takes heaps of courage to dare new things without a safety net. When we reach the place of where we can trust ourselves, everything changes for the better.

Today’s Inspiration ~ A Way of Living

“Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none.”

~ William Shakespeare

Today’s Power Thought ~ It’s a Matter of Trust

How well do you trust others? When we trust someone or when someone trusts us, risk is involved. We’ll never know if a person is trustworthy until we take the risk. When we show our trust in  another person, we give that person a chance to prove he/she is trustworthy. In my experience, taking the risk is worth it. I’ve seldom been let down. The act of trust builds a bond between the person doing the trusting and the person who is trusted. People in great relationships know that trust is the glue that binds their relationship.

A Better Life ~ Can You Keep a Secret?

When someone asks, “Can you keep a secret?” they are asking if they can trust us. When we agree to hear it, we make a sacred contract. We promise not to divulge what was shared with us, no matter how tempting it is to share. What we do with it marks our character as a person to be trusted or a person who can’t be trusted.

Today’s Poem ~ All is Well

All Is Well
Arthur Hugh Clough
Whate’er you dream, with doubt possessed,
Keep, keep it snug within your breast,
And lay you down and take your rest;
And when you wake, to work again,
The wind it blows, the vessel goes,
And where and whither, no one knows.

‘Twill all be well: no need of care;
Though how it will, and when, and where,
We cannot see, and can’t declare.
In spite of dreams, in spite of thought,
‘Tis not in vain, and not for nought,
The wind it blows, the ship it goes,
Though where and whither, no one knows.

Today’s Good Word ~ Direction

What direction are you moving toward? Is it a direction that will make you more fully human, more authentic? Is it a direction that will make you more loving and compassionate toward others. Sometimes we’re not moving, we’re stuck trying to figure out what direction we should move toward. In my experience, it is the stepping out in any direction and trusting that it is the right direction. We can have no certitude what we choose is the right direction. We can trust, if we put our heart into our journey, make an honest effort to do good, that the direction we choose will end up being the right direction.

A Better Life ~ Great Relationships

A great relationship can’t be bought. A great relationship is earned through unconditional love, trust, commitment, respect, and a dance that knows no end.
