šŸŽ Today’s Health Tip ~ Three Cheers for Chocolate

Chocolate: A Great Antioxidant Food

Dark chocolate is delicious, nutritious and one of the best sources of antioxidants. Generally speaking, the higher the cocoa content, the more antioxidants the chocolate contains. Dark chocolate has up to 15 mmol of antioxidants per 3.5 ounces (100 grams). This is even more than blueberries and raspberries, which contain up to 9.2 and 2.3 mmol of antioxidants in the same serving size, respectively (3Trusted Source).Ā Moreover, the antioxidants in cocoa and dark chocolate have been linked to impressive health benefits such as less inflammation and reduced risk factors for heart disease.

For my part, I have a piece of 100% cocoa with my blueberries each day. Yah, it’s bitter, but once you get used to it, it becomes a real treat.

āœ’ļø Writers’ Wisdom ~ Schedule Writing Time

COVID-19 Is a Bummer – It Can’t Stop Good Things From Happening

COVID-19 Is a Bummer – It Can’t Stop Good Things From Happening

Here are a few of the good things I witnessed or experienced today:

  • Saw a dog jump into a pool below a fountain. The dog knew how to have fun. Thanks for the reminder my canine friend.
  • A simple black bean soup is working its magic in my slow cooker. It’s going to go great with a piece of crusty Italian bread and side salad. Simple, delicious, and nutritious. Grateful.
  • Met two neighbors on my walk – we kept our social distance. We caught up on a lot of stuff. Nice to have good neighbors.
  • It’s heading toward 98 in south Texas (36.67c). Blue skies, southerly breeze. I’m going to pour a large glass of iced tea and head to the patio as soon as I finish this post. Cheers!!
  • The times are tough, but we can help each other find a reason to smile, even if it is watching birds, a lizard, or a monarch butterfly. We’re another day closer to winning. Hang in there.

What I share are seemingly small and inconsequential things, but they are priceless to me.

Grateful for all the above.

If you’d like to share the good things you’ve witnessed on my blog, Email me (ray.brese@gmail.com) a short list (1 to 5 things. Ā I’ll post and attribute them to you in the way you choose to be acknowledged (e.g., anonymous, name, Word Press blog (etc.).
