Feeling overwhelmed? Slow down. Slow it all down. Do one thing, complete it. Go on to the next thing, complete it. Before you know it, the feeling of being overwhelmed is gone. You’re back on top.

🌾 Today’s Poem ~ The Daring One
The Daring One
Edwin Markham
🤗 A Better Life ~ A Broken Fruit Bowl
I dropped a small fruit bowl on the tile floor, it splattered into a thousand pieces. A flurry or words flew off my lips that I won’t place here. What could I do? I swept and vacuumed to make sure every glass splinter was off the floor. Then, I reached for another bowl, filled it with fruit and enjoyed every bite. Sometimes life doesn’t go our way. If you’re like me, a few perfectly chosen words lets the steam escape, you clean up the mess, and you move on.
💡 Something to Think About
A red-tailed hawk swooped into the yard this morning looking for a breakfast treat of smaller birds that visit the feeder. The smaller birds were wise to the scheming designs of the hawk and avoided the feeder. The hawk left hungry after a while deciding to search elsewhere for breakfast. Learning to listen to one’s inner voice is a good way to make good decisions. Don’t let the red-tailed hawk swoop down on you.
✒️ Writers’ Wisdom ~ A Tip for Creating Suspense
“As for suspense, I like to write books that draw you into the hero’s plight from the opening pages, where people put their lives on the line for something – a belief, a family member, the truth.”
Today’s Smile 😃
Joe: “I asked my girlfriend to meet me at the gym but she never showed up.”
Pete: “That’s too bad, Joe.”
Joe: “I guess we’re not going to work out.”
🍎 Today’s Health Question ~ Want to Make Your Surgical Face Mask Fit Tighter?
Here’s How You Do It!
- Start with clean hands — always wash them before handling a new mask (and after taking off a used one).
- Fold the mask in half, lengthwise, so that the bottom and top strip are edge-to-edge.
- Take one ear loop and make a knot as close as possible to the corners of the mask; repeat on the other side.
- Unfold the mask and adapt the flexible nose bridge to your nose. You will see that the mask puffs out more than before.
- Fold in the corners and put on your better-fitting mask. Adjust as needed.
A recent study from Duke University measuring the efficacy of 14 types of masks and face coverings found disposable surgical masks worked well to block respiratory particles emitted when people talk.
I tried it and it WORKS!!
🌞 Today’s Inspiration ~ Make Someone Happy
“It was my mom who told me, “Ernie, if you make even one person happy with your smile or a funny thing you did every day, you’ll have accomplished a great deal.” And that’s all I’ve ever tried to do.”
🌾 Today’s Poem ~ Work
Work
Henry Van Dyke
Let me but do my work from day to day,
In field or forest, at the desk or loom,
In roaring market-place or tranquil room;
Let me but find it in my heart to say,
When vagrant wishes beckon me astray,
"This is my work; my blessing, not my doom;
"Of all who live, I am the one by whom
"This work can best be done in the right way."
Then shall I see it not too great, nor small,
To suit my spirit and to prove my powers;
Then shall I cheerful greet the labouring hours,
And cheerful turn, when the long shadows fall
At eventide, to play and love and rest,
Because I know for me my work is best.
👊 Today’s Power Thought ~ Be a Bridge Builder
When opinions differ, finding common ground is a bridge builder leading to successful solutions.
