🍎 Today’s Health Question ~ Which is Better for Weight Loss: Exercise or Diet?

The Best Choice: Apply Exercise and Diet Together

“Yes, you can lose weight with diet alone, but exercise is an important component. Data show that to lose weight with exercise and keep it off, you don’t need to run marathons. You just need to build up to five to seven workouts a week, 50 minutes each, at a moderate intensity, like brisk walking or Zumba. Resistance training helps, too. But don’t just do isolated weight-lifting exercises like biceps curls — you’ll get leaner faster by using your body weight against gravity, as with movements like squats, lunges, push-ups and planks. And, of course, beyond burning fat, people shouldn’t forget that exercise can have other impressive health perks, like improving the quality of your sleep, lowering your cholesterol and reducing your stress level.”

💡 Something to Think About

Have you taken the time to recognize what you are feeling? I think it’s only seen in the stillness. Stillness, at first, can be frightening, but in the end it is enlightening and liberating.

🌾 Today’s Poem ~ The Wait

The Wait
Rainer Maria Rilke
It is life in slow motion,
it’s the heart in reverse,
it’s a hope-and-a-half:
too much and too little at once. It’s a train that suddenly
stops with no station around,
and we can hear the cricket,
and, leaning out the carriage

door, we vainly contemplate
a wind we feel that stirs
the blooming meadows, the meadows
made imaginary by this stop.

🤗 A Better Life ~ A Few Lessons from the Pandemic

A few things the pandemic taught me:

We need each other.

In my isolation, I made friends with myself.

Covid doesn’t play favorites.

I met lots of folks (at a reasonable social distance).

People are good. Most are working hard to keep themselves, their families, and neighbors safe.
