🌞 Today’s Inspiration ~ Hold on Tight to Your Dreams

🌾 Today’s Poem ~ Joy

Joy
Carl Sandburg
Let a joy keep you.
Reach out your hands
And take it when it runs by,
As the Apache dancer
Clutches his woman.
I have seen them
Live long and laugh loud,
Sent on singing, singing,
Smashed to the heart
Under the ribs
With a terrible love.
Joy always,
Joy everywhere–
Let joy kill you!
Keep away from the little deaths.

💡 Something to Think About

We don’t often think about it or want to look at it, but we all have a dark side.  When we come to grips with our capacity for good or evil we develop a deep compassion for others and ourselves.

🤗 A Better Life ~ Restarting the Dialogue

Do you feel stuck communicating with another? Here’s a way of restarting the dialogue that may help:

“I’m on your side. Let’s see how we can work this out.”

Today’s Smile 😃

Joe: “Last night my girlfriend hinted she was going to break up with me.”

Pete: “What did she say?

Joe: “She said, ‘Is it hot in here or is this relationship suffocating me?”

👊 Today’s Power Thought ~ Get Moving and Don’t Stop

Few people care about your troubles. Suck it up, move out of the parking space and get going. Before you know, you’ll soon forget about your troubles.

🍎 Today’s Health Tip ~ What are the Best Foods for Healthy Skin?

Most Beneficial Foods for Healthy Skin

Research on the best foods for healthy skin is limited. Still, antioxidant-rich foods seem to have a protective effect for the skin.

Skin-friendly foods:

      • Carrots, apricots, and other yellow and orange fruits and vegetables
      • Spinach and other green leafy vegetables
      • Tomatoes
      • Berries
      • Beans, peas and lentils
      • Salmon, mackerel and other fatty fish
      • Nuts

Some foods seem to be associated with skin damage. For example, some research suggests that a diet high in processed or refined sugars or other carbohydrates and unhealthy fats promotes skin aging. Remember, many of the best foods for healthy skin also promote good health overall. Rather than focusing on specific foods for healthy skin, concentrate on a healthy diet in general. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Choose low-fat or fat-free dairy products. Include nuts, seeds and beans in your favorite meals. Opt for whole-grain breads and pasta. Limit sweets. Strive for variety as you’re making healthy choices.

👊 Today’s Power Thought ~ Critics May Be Right (at least a little bit)

Resist the urge to strike back when someone criticizes. It hurts. A good friend gave me this piece of advice;. She said, “Give yourself 24 hours to vent. It’s okay to be angry. After 24 hours, carefully assess what your critic said, and learn from it. Remember, it’s your critics who’ll often tell you the truth, where your friends will not want to hurt your feelings.
