We don’t often think about it or want to look at it, but we all have a dark side. When we come to grips with our capacity for good or evil we develop a deep compassion for others and ourselves.
Do you feel stuck communicating with another? Here’s a way of restarting the dialogue that may help:
“I’m on your side. Let’s see how we can work this out.”
Joe: “Last night my girlfriend hinted she was going to break up with me.”
Pete: “What did she say?
Joe: “She said, ‘Is it hot in here or is this relationship suffocating me?”
Few people care about your troubles. Suck it up, move out of the parking space and get going. Before you know, you’ll soon forget about your troubles.
Research on the best foods for healthy skin is limited. Still, antioxidant-rich foods seem to have a protective effect for the skin.
Some foods seem to be associated with skin damage. For example, some research suggests that a diet high in processed or refined sugars or other carbohydrates and unhealthy fats promotes skin aging. Remember, many of the best foods for healthy skin also promote good health overall. Rather than focusing on specific foods for healthy skin, concentrate on a healthy diet in general. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Choose low-fat or fat-free dairy products. Include nuts, seeds and beans in your favorite meals. Opt for whole-grain breads and pasta. Limit sweets. Strive for variety as you’re making healthy choices.
Resist the urge to strike back when someone criticizes. It hurts. A good friend gave me this piece of advice;. She said, “Give yourself 24 hours to vent. It’s okay to be angry. After 24 hours, carefully assess what your critic said, and learn from it. Remember, it’s your critics who’ll often tell you the truth, where your friends will not want to hurt your feelings.
