💡 Something to Think About

If I get caught up in the news and digital media I can quickly enter a dark hole. Instead, I like to see parents pushing young children on swings, pick up basketball games, picnics in the park, people in love, friends talking, and people being neighborly. There are lots of good people doing good things and working to hold society together. It’s all going to be okay.

👊 Today’s Power Thought ~ An Open and Inquiring Mind Will Not Disappoint

We may learn that the dream we so earnestly seek may not be the dream we are destined to embrace. Keep an open, inquiring, and creative mind to discover the evolving nature of your dream.

🌞 Today’s Inspiration ~ Try, Try, and Try Again

Try, try, try, and keep on trying is the rule that must be followed to become an expert in anything.

~ W. Clement Stone

Today’s Smile 😃

Joe: “My wife told our marriage counselor that I don’t buy her flowers.”

Pete: “What did  you say?”

Joe: “I said, ‘I didn’t know she was selling flowers.'”

✒️ Writers’ Wisdom ~ Creating Fully Alive Characters

If you want to tell the best story possible, you can only do so with characters who are fully alive and made for the world that you’ve created— Not characters who are borrowed from a world that someone else created a long time ago. . . . Characters are storytelling devices that help the reader experience and process the story. If your character is one-note, your story will likewise fall flat. It won’t be as rich and nuanced as it could have been because your stereotypical characters aren’t able to carry the weight.

🌾 Today’s Poem ~ Evening Song

Evening Song

Sidney Lanier

Look off, dear Love, across the sallow sands,
And mark yon meeting of the sun and sea;
How long they kiss in sight of all the lands,
Ah! longer, longer we.

Now, in the sea’s red vintage melts the sun
As Egypt’s pearl dissolved in rosy wine
And Cleopatra-night drinks all- ’tis done,
Love, lay thine hand in mine.

Come forth, sweet stars, and comfort heaven’s heart,
Glimmer, ye waves, ’round else unlighted sands;
Oh night! divorce our sun and sky apart-
Never our lips, our hands.

🌾 Today’s Poem ~ Ah, My Beloved

Ah, My Beloved

Omar Khayyam

Ah, my beloved, fill the cup that clears
Today of past regrets and future fears;
Tomorrow? Why, tomorrow I may be,
Myself, with yesterday’s sev’n thousand years.

💡 Something to Think About

I went to the supermarket today. When I returned to my car and packed the groceries away in the trunk I saw a car turning down my row (wrong direction). Another driver was pulling out of a parking space and heading toward the wrong direction car. Both cars were facing each other ten feet apart, neither one moving. Finally, the car going the wrong way squeezed between the car going the right way and the parked cars. One was there first, one was in the right. This is how most arguments start and usually head down the wrong path. What if both drivers considered alternatives? The right driver could have pulled back into the vacated parking space. The wrong way driver could have carefully backed up. Sometimes, it’s important to put our pride on the shelf and add a bit of humility. Life would be a lot easier.

🤗 A Better Life ~ Don’t Miss a Single Minute

It’s springtime. The mountain laurel are in bloom. Wild flowers are making their entrance. Don’t miss a moment. Spring comes but once a year. I love spring. I’m not going to miss a moment of the crazy spring dance. I’ve got spring fever and it’s contagious.
