🌾 Today’s Poem ~ somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond

somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond

e. e. cummings

somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond
any experience, your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which i cannot touch because they are too near

your slightest look easily will unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skillfully, mysteriously) her first rose

or if your wish be to close me, i and
my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
the snow carefully everywhere descending;

nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility: whose texture
compels me with the colour of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing

(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens; only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands

🌞 Today’s Inspiration ~ If It’s Worth It, Then . . .

“If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing well. If it is worth having, it is worth waiting for. If it is worth attaining, it is worth fighting for. If it is worth experiencing, it is worth putting aside time for.”

~ Oscar Wilde

💡 Something to Think About

It’s good to be serious, some of the time. But, keep the all-the-time serious folks away from me. They’ll drain the energy out of the room. Being serious is good if it is balanced with joy, laughter, dance, and song. These are the kinds of folks I’ll invite to lunch or dinner.

Today’s Smile 😃

Joe: “I got into a fight with my acupuncturist and stabbed him.”

Pete: “What happened?”

Joe: “He said he never felt better.”

👍 Today’s Good Word ~ Generous

Generous – willing to give money, help, kindness, etc., especially more than is usual or expected

I grew up in a poor, low blue collar neighborhood. My memories are of people who generously shared what they had. Food was shared, tomatoes and onions from gardens were shared. Apples from trees were shared. Helping each other out in need was part of the culture of this poor neighborhood. I never felt poor. How could I when everyone around me was so generous.

🍎 Today’s Health Tip ~ How About a Delicious Anti-Inflamatory Drink?

With pomegranate juice and green tea, this refreshing iced tea has twice the anti-inflammatory power. Pomegranates are packed with polyphenols — organic compounds found in plants — that have been linked to improving heart health and other inflammatory health conditions, Sauceda says.

And green tea is teeming with flavonoids — a type of polyphenol — that can prevent oxidative stress, alleviate inflammation and, consequently, help reduce the accumulation of plaque in your arteries, according to Harvard Health Publishing

Here’s the recipe to make a refreshing glass of this anti-inflammatory iced tea

Iced tea is a springtime favorite. Recipe courtesy of registered dietitian Ann Purcell-Murray.

Ingredients, serves one

  • 1 cup Pure Green Tea
  • 1/4 cup Pomagranate Juice
  • 1 leaf fresh mint leaves

Directions – 1In a cup, mix green tea and pomegranate juice. Garnish with a fresh mint leaf or lemon slice.

🌾 Today’s Poem ~ See It Through

See It Through

Edgar Guest

When you’re up against a trouble,
    Meet it squarely, face to face;
Lift your chin and set your shoulders,
    Plant your feet and take a brace.
When it’s vain to try to dodge it,
    Do the best that you can do;
You may fail, but you may conquer,
    See it through!

Black may be the clouds about you
    And your future may seem grim,
But don’t let your nerve desert you;
    Keep yourself in fighting trim.
If the worst is bound to happen,
    Spite of all that you can do,
Running from it will not save you,
    See it through!

Even hope may seem but futile,
    When with troubles you’re beset,
But remember you are facing
    Just what other men have met.
You may fail, but fall still fighting;
    Don’t give up, whate’er you do;
Eyes front, head high to the finish.
    See it through!

👊 Today’s Power Thought ~ Where do you Stand When Facing a Challenge

Where are you on the continuum when facing a difficult challenge: a) there’s nothing I (we) can do; b) maybe, there’s a possibility I (we) can figure out something; or c) it’s a tough challenge, but I (we) can do it.

🤗 A Better Life ~ It’s Time to Put a Kick in Your Step

Feeling down? Got a case of the lows today? C’mon lift your chin, put a kick in your step, it’s all going to get better. Adonis Lattimore, 17, didn’t let being born without a right leg, a partial left leg and only one fully functioning arm get him down and give him a permanent set of the lows. Adonis didn’t listen to the naysayers, with the help of his dad he became involved in wrestling. Recently, Adonis won his state championship in his weight class. He’s headed off to college this fall and plans to continue wrestling. Let Adonis inspire you. You can do it. C’mon it’s your time to roll.
