It’s easier to love the people in our lives if we don’t expect perfection from them. We all are in various stages of becoming what we were designed to be. Patience nurtures the growth between stages.

Something to Think About
I went for a nature walk today. I saw lizards, multiple species of birds, two deer, and fortunately no snakes. The only sound I heard was that of a gentle southerly breeze passing through the trees and the birds serenading me. My mind slowly emptied during my walk. By the time I finished, I was relaxed and ready to take on the day. There are times when it is important to ditch the unnatural sounds and let our minds clear out. Think of a nature walk without listening to digital media or engaging in non-stop conversation as spring cleaning for your mind.
Today’s Poem ~ A Singer
What most he felt, religion it was to hide
In a dumb darkling grotto, where the spring
Of tremulous tears, arising unespied,
Became a holy well that durst not glide
Into the day with moil or murmuring;
Whereto, as if to some unlawful thing,
He sto]e, musing or praying at its side.
But in the sun he sang with cheerful heart,
Of coloured season and the whirling sphere,
Warm household habitude and human mirth,
The whole faith-blooded mystery of earth;
And I, who had his secret, still could hear
The grotto’s whisper low through every part.
Something to Think About
I am here in this space working on a blog post at this moment. It is the medium I am using to create the kind of moment I desire. When we view each moment as an opportunity for creating the meaning to our lives, every moment takes on special meaning. Each moment is unique. A moment may be spent with a significant other. Another moment with children, another moment with colleagues. There are an infinite number ways we may experience a moment. Within each of the moments we experience we have the capacity to create the quality of that moment. What are you creating with your moments?
A Better Life ~ Dealing with the Unexpected
“I didn’t see that coming.” How often have you heard those words. The unexpected can disrupt the best of plans. When the unexpected hits we can rant and rave that life isn’t fair. It’s not. The unexpected happens and it gives us no warning. What we do in these moments defines us. It stamps a mark on our character. Act boldly, confidently, and face the unexpected head on. Learn its lessons, acquire the strength the unexpected is offering.
Today’s Smile
Joe: “I cooked a romantic dinner for my girlfriend.”
Pete: “How did it work out?”
Joe: “It did not end well. The fire department ruined it.”
Today’s Power Thought ~ Opportunities Come in Disguises
Opportunities come in all forms of disguises – Your opportunity may not appear as you think it will, but it will appear. Develop an awareness possibilities. When you recognize it, grab hold and don’t let go. The ride will be exciting, don’t let it throw you. It’s your time.
Today’s Health Tip ~ Get a Second Opinion
Make Your Own Medical Decisions
Trisha Torrey, a 60-something patient advocate in Baldwinsville, New York, is author of “Every Patient’s Advocate.” She said, “In 2004, I was diagnosed with a rare form of lymphoma with a prognosis of only a few months. I had never dealt with anything so difficult and just went along with everything I was told by the oncologist, just short of starting chemo. To this day I don’t know why, but I decided to get a second opinion before consenting to treatment. Turned out I didn’t have cancer after all. So the most important lesson I can share is to be fully engaged in every medical decision you must make, create decision-points yourself and always get a second opinion if your recommended treatment is invasive, toxic or long term.”
Today’s Good Word ~ Light & Dark
All of us have a light and dark side. We enjoy seeing only our light side. The light side displays our compassion, kindness, honesty, and love. We shy away from acknowledging our dark side. It’s difficult to admit to the self that we are capable of being selfish, mean, angry, and greedy. When we view our dark side we realize how much we are like everyone we’ve criticized. It is both humbling and liberating. It makes me more accepting of others with the hope they will be more accepting of me. In many ways, once we acknowledge and accept our dark side, our light side becomes brighter.
