Although my primary language is English, I make an effort each day to learn to speak Spanish. I’m making progress, but it is slow. I like speaking (albeit poorly) Spanish with the Spanish speaking people I meet. One language I have not had to learn to communicate is a smile. A warm, broad smile is always reciprocated. It is a universal sign that the world is a friendly place. You don’t have to learn a second language to communicate, all you have to do is offer your beautiful smile to all who pass your way.
Better life
A Better Life ~ Finding Home
Home isn’t so much a place as it is being with those we love wherever we may be. Whenever we are with people who love us and whom we love, we are home.
A Better Life ~ We Are Not Our Past
The only power our past has over us, is the power we give it. We are not our past, we are our present. There is no law requiring us to continue doing what we’ve done in the past. If it didn’t work, we can change it. It’s within our power. What we are becoming unfolds with each of our daily decisions.
A Better Life ~ Being an Example
It’s not easy being a good parent. Parents teach their children how to love by loving each other. Parents teach their children to be respectful by being respectful to each other. Parents teach their children how to interact by the way they interact with each other. Children learn more by watching than by listening. Everything a parent does is recorded in the child’s mind.
A Better Life ~ It’s Your Voice That Matters
Whose approval are you seeking? The one that matters is YOU! No other approval is needed. You know what is best for yourself. Is it time to shut the noise coming from all the people trying to tell you how to run your life and listen to the voice that matters? Your voice.
A Better Life ~ There’s Another Tomorrow Coming
As long as there’s a tomorrow there’s hope. Times can be tough and the hurt may seem to never end. Hang in there. There’s another tomorrow coming and it’s going to be brighter than today.
A Better Life ~ Moving On
A good friend is moving out of the neighborhood to move closer to family nearly 1200 miles away. She was a good neighbor and friend. We’ll all miss her and wish her well. We’ll have good memories of her time here. Now, the goal is to welcome our new neighbors into her home. I’m looking forward making new friends. Life goes on and we all have to move on.
A Better Life ~ Build Bridges
Today tear down the personal defenses preventing you from loving those closest to you. Toss away resentments, anger, and grudges. They do no one any good. Build bridges to those you love. One day you’ll be waiting and seeing those you love walking toward you over the bridge you built.
A Better Life ~ Don’t Waste a Moment
World wide life expectancy ranges from 84.7 (Hong Kong) to 52.8 ((Central African Republic (source). Life is short by any measure. Why waste a moment being angry, holding tight to resentments. Enjoy every moment of the life you have. Love those close to you as if you’ll never see them again. Be generous with your funds, you can’t take it with you.
A Better Life ~ It’s Your Moment
Is it time for you to be excited about who you are and what you bring to the world? Throw off the doubts. Let go of all the limits you’ve placed on yourself. Turn a deaf ear to the naysayers. It’s your moment.
