Laugh and Cry.
Having a good sob is reputed to be good for you. So is laughter, which has been shown to help heal bodies, as well as broken hearts. Studies in Japan indicate that laughter boosts the immune system and helps the body shake off allergic reactions.

Today’s Smile 😃
Joe: “Pete, how did the job interview go?”
Pete: “The interviewer told me I take things too literally.”
Joe: “That’s too bad, what did you say?”
Pete: “I said, “When the hell did my resume learn to talk?”
✒️ Writers’ Wisdom ~ A Writing Schedule
“When I am working on a book or a story I write every morning as soon after first light as possible. There is no one to disturb you and it is cool or cold and you come to your work and warm as you write. You read what you have written and, as you always stop when you know what is going to happen next, you go on from there. You write until you come to a place where you still have your juice and know what will happen next and you stop and try to live through until the next day when you hit it again.”
~ Ernest Hemingway
🌾 Today’s Poem ~ This World
This World
Frank L. Stanton
This world that we’re a-livin’ in
Is mighty hard to beat;
You git a thorn with every rose,
But _ain’t _the roses sweet!
🤗 Feel Good Hack ~ C’mon Coffee
Here’s a personal feel good hack. I enjoy my morning coffee almost as much as I enjoy my morning shower. I make my coffee the night before. When I wake up I ask Alexa (Amazon Echo device) to “Turn on Coffee.” I hear the coffee maker click on. I hear the drip, drip, drip of coffee, and sixty seconds later the wonderful aroma of a dark roast makes it way to me while I lie on my yoga mat doing crunches. That’s a tough place to drink coffee, but my anticipation switch clicked on. Cheers!
COVID-19 Is a Bummer – It Can’t Stop Good Things From Happening
COVID-19 Is a Bummer – It Can’t Stop Good Things From Happening
Here are a few of the good things I witnessed or experienced today:
- I had a surprise FaceTime call from an old friend. Great time catching up. Grateful.
- A hot shower, hot coffee, and birds singing. The birds who visit my feeder are too busy living to feel depressed. Thanks birds for the great lesson. Grateful!
- You can brighten someone’s life today by texting, emailing, or calling and telling him/her how important they are in your life. Go For It. Shine On!
We’re another day closer to winning this battle. I’ve not know life to be easy. It challenges us. Choose to live. Choose to fight on. Choose life. We’ll get through it.
The little things are priceless treasures to me. They brighten my day. I hope your day is filled to overflowing with the little things that make life worth living.
Grateful for all the above.
If you’d like to share the good things you’ve witnessed on my blog, Email me (ray.brese@gmail.com) a short list (1 to 5 things. I’ll post and attribute them to you in the way you choose to be acknowledged (e.g., anonymous, name, Word Press blog (etc.).
🌞 Today’s Inspiration ~
“Don’t give up. There are too many nay-sayers out there who will try to discourage you. Don’t listen to them. The only one who can make you give up is yourself.”
~Sidney Seldon
🍎 Today’s Health Tip ~ Tomatoes ~ They’re So Good For You
Tomato is a superstar in the fruit and veggie pantheon. Tomatoes contain lycopene, a powerful cancer fighter. They’re also rich in vitamin C. The good news is that cooked tomatoes are also nutritious, so use them in pasta, soups and casseroles, as well as in salads. The British Thoracic Society says that tomatoes and apples can reduce your risk of asthma and chronic lung diseases. Both contain the antioxidant quercetin.
👊 Today’s Power Thought ~Somethings Are Worth It
The only things to slow me down today will be a chance to smell a flower, gaze at a beautiful sunset, or wait for a mama duck and her ducklings to cross the street.
Today’s Smile 😃
Pete: “My wife complained that I don’t buy her flowers.”
Joe: “Bad move, Pete.”
Pete: “To be honest, Joe, I didn’t know she sold flowers.”
