COVID-19 Is a Bummer – It Can’t Stop Good Things From Happening

COVID-19 Is a Bummer – It Can’t Stop Good Things From Happening

Here are a few of the good things I witnessed or experienced today:

  • A good friend shared her excitement that her salon is reopening and she has a job. I was happy she shared her joy with me. Grateful for her good news.
  • Talk about surprises, I stopped and chatted with a friend on my walk and discovered he was a regular on the TV soap All My Children. The stories he shared with me. Sorry People Magazine, they’re in the vault. LOL. Grateful for good friends.
  • Impossible to start the day in a lousy mood when I begin the day by thanking God for a great night’s sleep, good health, and a chance at a new day. Yah, I’m grateful from the bottom of my heart.

We’re another day closer to a solution. No naysaying, no back stepping. We’ve got this. Don’t give up. Hold on!

The little things are priceless treasures to me. They brighten my day. I hope your day is filled to overflowing with the little things that make life worth living.

Grateful for all the above.

🤗 Feel Good Hack ~ You Deserve a Self Message

Take Five Minutes for Yourself

A combination of strokes works well to relieve muscle tension. Try gentle chops with the edge of your hands or tapping with fingers or cupped palms. Put fingertip pressure on muscle knots. Knead across muscles, and try long, light, gliding strokes. You can apply these strokes to any part of the body that falls easily within your reach. For a short session like this, try focusing on your neck and head:

Start by kneading the muscles at the back of your neck and shoulders. Make a loose fist and drum swiftly up and down the sides and back of your neck. Next, use your thumbs to work tiny circles around the base of your skull. Slowly massage the rest of your scalp with your fingertips. Then tap your fingers against your scalp, moving from the front to the back and then over the sides. Now massage your face. Make a series of tiny circles with your thumbs or fingertips. Pay particular attention to your temples, forehead, and jaw muscles. Use your middle fingers to massage the bridge of your nose and work outward over your eyebrows to your temples. Finally, close your eyes. Cup your hands loosely over your face and inhale and exhale easily for a short while.

Bill: “That’s terrific.”

Jack: “It can also write other words too.”

COVID-19 Is a Bummer – It Can’t Stop Good Things From Happening

Here are a few of the good things I witnessed or experienced today:

  • I had the most delightful surprise this morning. I was on my daily walk (can’t wait for the gyms to reopen) when a car pulled over, the passenger side window rolled down and there was my friend. We had the best conversation about this and that and discovered we enjoyed the same BBC comedies. Grateful for my friend stopping. Grateful for the conversation.
  • I’m a big fan of rainbows. The bigger the rainbow, the better. A daughter who lives rainbowin Illinois sent me this photo of a rainbow she took this morning. I’m sharing it with you. Good things are coming our way. Keep your arms wide open. Grateful.
  • We’re another day closer to a solution. Keep smiling. We’ve got it on the run. Don’t give up. Hold on!

The little things are priceless treasures to me. They brighten my day. I hope your day is filled to overflowing with the little things that make life worth living.

Grateful for all the above.

✒️ Writers’ Wisdom ~ The Gift of Poetry

“Once, poets were magicians. Poets were strong, stronger than warriors or kings — stronger than old hapless gods. And they will be strong once again.”

~ Greg Bear

🌞 Today’s Inspiration ~ Keep on Going!

“Unless you have courage, a courage that keeps you going, always going, no matter what happens, there is no certainty of success. It is really an endurance race.”

~ Henry Ford

🌾 Today’s Poem ~ Hold Fast

Hold Fast

Jack Appleton

When you’re nearly drowned in trouble, and the world is dark as ink;
When you feel yourself a-sinking ‘neath the strain,
And you think, “I’ve got to holler ‘Help!'” just take another breath
And pretend you’ve lost your voice—and can’t complain!
      (That’s the idea!)
Pretend you’ve lost your voice and can’t complain!

When the future glowers at you like a threatening thunder cloud,
Just grit your teeth and bend your head and say:
“It’s dark and disagreeable and I can’t help feeling blue,
But there’s coming sure as fate a brighter day!”
      (Say it slowly!)
“But there’s coming sure as fate, a brighter day!”

You have bluffed your way through ticklish situations; that I know.
    You are looking back on troubles past and gone;
Now, turn the tables, and as you have fought and won before,
Just BLUFF YOURSELF to keep on holding on!
      (Try it once.)
Just bluff YOURSELF to keep on—holding on.

Don’t worry if the roseate hues of life are faded out,
Bend low before the storm and wait awhile.
The pendulum is bound to swing again and you will find
That you have not forgotten how to smile.
      (That’s the truth!)
That you have not forgotten how to smile.

🍎 Today’s Health Tip ~ Eat Wisely & Healthy

Eating a healthy diet plays a critical role in supporting our immune system, which protects us from a wide array of disease-causing pathogens, including the deadly coronavirus. . . . Healthy eating habits are crucial to maintaining strong immunity, says Hannah Braye, a certified nutrition specialist. . . .” “Our immune system is on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. It includes our skin, enzymes in our tears and the numerous immune cells circulating in our bloodstream. The immune system also includes the trillions of immune-modulating bacteria residing within our guts. We are constantly exposed to all kinds of bacteria, viruses, fungi and other potentially disease-causing microorganisms on a daily basis. As long as our immune system is functioning well, we are largely able to resist infection. Nutrition plays a critical role in determining immune health.”
