🌾 Today’s Poem ~ Let Me Be Aware

Let Me Be Aware

Miriam Teichner

God—let me be aware.
Let me not stumble blindly down the ways,
Just getting somehow safely through the days,
Not even groping for another hand,
Not even wondering why it all was planned,
Eyes to the ground unseeking for the light,
Soul never aching for a wild-winged flight,
Please, keep me eager just to do my share.
  God—let me be aware.

  God—let me be aware.
Stab my soul fiercely with others’ pain,
Let me walk seeing horror and stain.
Let my hands, groping, find other hands.
Give me the heart that divines, understands.
Give me the courage, wounded, to fight.
Flood me with knowledge, drench me in light.
Please—keep me eager just to do my share.
  God—let me be aware.

COVID-19 Is a Bummer – It Can’t Stop Good Things From Happening

COVID-19 Is a Bummer – It Can’t Stop Good Things From Happening

Here are a few of the good things I witnessed or experienced today:

  • Good things often happen to me when I least expect them. I went for my daily walk. I met a worker (repairing the street). We started talking. One thing led to another and we were talking politics. Our ideas were different, we listened to each other. We didn’t argue. I came away with an understanding and respect for why he felt the way he did. I hope he left feeling the same way about me and my views. Grateful for a respectful and honest discussion.
  • Three things I’ll do for sure today: Listen to music that makes me feel good. Watch a movie with a good ending. And, find time to relax and be grateful for the life I live.
  • We’re another day closer to a solution. Don’tgive up. Stay strong, keep practicing social distancing, and take time to enjoy all the signs and sights of spring.

The little things are priceless treasures to me. They brighten my day. I hope your day is filled to overflowing with the little things that make life worth living.

Grateful for all the above.

If you’d like to share the good things you’ve witnessed on my blog, Email me (ray.brese@gmail.com) a short list (1 to 5 things.  I’ll post and attribute them to you in the way you choose to be acknowledged (e.g., anonymous, name, Word Press blog (etc.).

👊 Today’s Power Thought ~ Hang in There

Tough times end. Rain eventually stops. Wounds heal. Good things always have the last word.

🌞 Today’s Inspiration ~ Love Really is the Answer

“HeartMath found that five minutes of feeling love and care can strengthen your immune system for up to six hours, whereas five minutes of feeling angry can weaken and suppress the immune system for six hours. Love releases very powerful, beneficial chemicals into the body.”

~ Marci Shimoff

🌞 Today’s Inspiration ~ Trouble’s Got Trouble with Me!

“I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I’ve bought a big bat. I’m all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!” ~ Dr. Suess

✒️ Writers’ Wisdom ~ Creating New Characters

Y’see, I get so bored so easily. I like to start with a clean slate each time. Sure, I’ll have characters drop in and out of books but the main cast of characters always changes. Maybe I’m wrong but I think if had the same joe detective guy or gal, I wouldn’t write them as well; I wouldn’t do as good a job. ~  Carl Hiaasen

👊 Today’s Power Thought ~ Today’s Chore

My first chore of the day is to sweep the blues out of the house. It’s going to be a great day, you know it!

Today’s Smile 😃

Larry: “I came out of the supermarket this morning and a woman was crying. She Told me she lost all her money.”

Pete: What did you do?”

Larry: “I felt sorry for her and gave her $50.”

Pete: “That was generous.”

Larry: “I wanted to keep good karma going. Earlier, I found #1000 in the parking lot on my way into the supermarket.”

🌾 Today’s Poem ~ Wishing

Wishing

Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Do you wish the world were better?
Let me tell you what to do.
Set a watch upon your actions,
Keep them always straight and true.
Rid your mind of selfish motives,
Let your thoughts be clean and high.
You can make a little Eden
    Of the sphere you occupy.

Do you wish the world were wiser?
Well, suppose you make a start,
  By accumulating wisdom
    In the scrapbook of your heart;
  Do not waste one page on folly;
Live to learn, and learn to live.
If you want to give men knowledge
You must get it, ere you give.

Do you wish the world were happy?
    Then remember day by day
Just to scatter seeds of kindness
As you pass along the way,
For the pleasures of the many
May be ofttimes traced to one.
As the hand that plants an acorn
    Shelters armies from the sun.

🍎 Today’s Health Tip ~ A Mood Booster!

C’Mon, Let’s Go for a Walk!

Spend 30 minutes outside a day (an hour is better!). People who spend at least 30 mins outside in nature report better mood and well-being. Whether it’s a walk a walk around your neighborhood (where you may end up seeing neighbors and waving to friends who are enjoying their porches or balconies), enjoying a walk up and down a tree-lined street, finding peace along a beautiful waterfront, or biking through a new trail, all hold the promise of strengthening your heart, powering up your energy, and boosting your mood.
