šŸŽ Today’s Health Question ~ Is Drinking Black Coffee Good for your Heart?

Black Coffee (No Add-Ins) Is Good for Your Heart

Drinking one or more cups of plain, leaded coffee a day was associated with a long-term reduced risk of heart failure, according to a review of diet data from three major studies using analytic tools from the American Heart Association. The benefit did not extend to decaffeinated coffee. Instead, the analysis found an association between decaf coffee and an increased risk for heart failure.

šŸ’” Something to Think About

It’s been a tough week in Texas. The winter storm shows no sign of letting up. For the third night, there was no power. This morning there was no water. I checked with neighbors and all are without water. A lesson learned for me, I will be grateful each time I use water to wash my hands. I will be grateful each time I use water to brush my teeth. I will be grateful for each cup of coffee I make. The little things, so easily ignored because they are always there. When they are not there, they become the big things.

“The friend in my adversity I shall always cherish most. I can better trust those who helped to relieve the gloom of my dark hours than those who are so ready to enjoy with me the sunshine of my prosperity.” ~ Ulysses S. Grant

🌾 Today’s Poem ~ I Sit and Think

I Sit and Think

J. R. R. Tolkien

I sit beside the fire and think of all that I have seen,
of meadow-flowers and butterflies in summers that have been;
Of yellow leaves and gossamer in autumns that there were,
with morning mist and silver sun and wind upon my hair.
I sit beside the fire and think of how the world will be
when winter comes without a spring that I shall ever see.

For still there are so many things that I have never seen:
in every wood in every spring there is a different green.
I sit beside the fire and think of people long ago,
and people who will see a world that I shall never know.
But all the while I sit and think of times there were before,
I listen for returning feet and voices at the door.

šŸ’” Something to Think About

What we do speaks more powerfully than what we say.
