🍎 Today’s Health Question ~ Is It Time to Button Up?

Button Mushrooms are Immune System Boosters

Button mushrooms give you the mineral selenium and the B vitamins riboflavin and niacin. That helps you in several ways. If you’re low on selenium, you may be more likely to get a more severe flu. Riboflavin and niacin play a role in a healthy immune system.

✒️ Writers’ Wisdom ~ Never Start a Novel with the Weather

“Never open a book with weather. If it’s only to create atmosphere, and not a character’s reaction to the weather, you don’t want to go on too long. The reader is apt to leaf ahead looking for people. There are exceptions. If you happen to be Barry Lopez, who has more ways than an Eskimo to describe ice and snow in his book Arctic Dreams, you can do all the weather reporting you want.” ~ Elmore Leonard

✒️ Writers’ Wisdom ~ Don’t Want to Lose a Flash of Brilliance?

“”Always carry a note-book. And I mean always. The short-term memory only retains information for three minutes; unless it is committed to paper you can lose an idea for ever.” — Will Self

Today’s Smile 😃

Joe: “I texted, “I love u” to my girlfriend. Do you think she’ll be upset?

Pete: “Why would you think she’d be upset?

Joe: “Because “U” is my favorite vowel.”

💡 Something to Think About

Six inches of snow fell on my home in south Texas last night. This morning’s temperature is 7. I think I’ll make a snowman and toss snowballs. Why complain when the freak snowstorm poured out a rare beautiful scene. I’ll enjoy it all.

🍎 Today’s Health Question ~ Should You Fast or Not Fast?

Fasting may bring health benefits, but Longo cautions that there’s still a lot we don’t know. For some, fasting may cause problems. For example, studies have found that people who regularly fast more than 16 or 18 hours a day have a higher risk of gallstones. They’re also more likely to need surgery to remove the gallbladder. Eating for 12 hours and then fasting for 12 hours is likely safe for most people, Longo explains. “That pattern of eating is very common among people who have record lifespans,” he says. “It seems to match both science and tradition.”

🌾 Today’s Poem ~ Give Me Strength

Give Me Strength

Tagore

This is my prayer to thee, my lord—-strike,
strike at the root of penury in my heart.

Give me the strength lightly to bear my joys and sorrows.

Give me the strength to make my love fruitful in service.

Give me the strength never to disown the poor or bend my knees before insolent might.

Give me the strength to raise my mind high above daily trifles.

And give me the strength to surrender my strength to thy will with love.

🤗 A Better Life ~ Which Choice Do You Prefer?

Wallow in sorrow or dance in the sun? I know where I want to be. My feet can feel the music. Come join me and dance in sun.
