“Never cut a tree down in the wintertime. Never make a negative decision in the low time. Never make your most important decisions when you are in your worst moods. Wait. Be patient. The storm will pass. The spring will come.”
~ Robert Schuller

The ebb and flow of life teaches us to be patient, endure, remain hope-filled, and things will work out. Don’t quit. Don’t give up.
Joe: “I changed the sound of car horn to a gunshot sound.”
Pete: “Why’d you do that?”
Joe: “When I sound my horn now, everything in front of me clears out.”
Kimchi is a popular Korean side dish that’s usually made from fermented cabbage. It can also be made from other fermented vegetables such as radishes. It boasts an extensive array of health benefits and may be especially effective when it comes to lowering cholesterol and reducing insulin resistance. In one study, 21 people with prediabetes consumed either fresh or fermented kimchi for 8 weeks. By the end of the study, those consuming fermented kimchi had decreased insulin resistance, blood pressure, and body weight. In another study, people were given a diet with either a high or low amount of kimchi for 7 days. A higher intake of kimchi led to greater decreases in blood sugar, blood cholesterol, and LDL (bad) cholesterol. Kimchi is easy to make and can be added to everything from noodle bowls to sandwiches.
I have a large live oak in my yard. The live oak must be over 200 years old and it has handled everything the Texas weather can throw at it. It is teaching me patience, trust, and living the mystery provide a great foundation for resilience. This year, after the great freeze, the live oak is teaching me again of how resilient it is. Thanks Live Oak for the lessons.
A Light Exists in Spring
Emily Dickinson
A Light exists in Spring
Not present on the Year
At any other period —
When March is scarcely here
A Color stands abroad
On Solitary Fields
That Science cannot overtake
But Human Nature feels.
It waits upon the Lawn,
It shows the furthest Tree
Upon the furthest Slope you know
It almost speaks to you.
Then as Horizons step
Or Noons report away
Without the Formula of sound
It passes and we stay —
A quality of loss
Affecting our Content
As Trade had suddenly encroached
Upon a Sacrament.
Without forgiveness, there is no peace.
Without a dream there is no hope.
Without love, the heart dies.
