🌾 Today’s Poem ~ Love after Love

Love after Love

Derek Walcott

The time will come
when, with elation
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror
and each will smile at the other’s welcome,

and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you

all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,

the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

Each morning when I wake, I rejoice. I have another shot at life. I have another opportunity to sing, dance, and do what I can the best way I can. Excuse me, I hear a song and it’s time to dance again. Join with me in the great dance of life.

If you’re a vegan or vegetarian, you might have a greater risk of a zinc deficiency. But there are plenty of plant foods to help you meet your daily requirements. 🌾 Today’s Poem ~ I Loved You First: but afterwards your love

I Loved You First: but afterwards your love

Christina Rossetti

I loved you first: but afterwards your love
Outsoaring mine, sang such a loftier song
As drowned the friendly cooings of my dove.
Which owes the other most? my love was long,
And yours one moment seemed to wax more strong;
I loved and guessed at you, you construed me
And loved me for what might or might not be –
Nay, weights and measures do us both a wrong.
For verily love knows not ‘mine’ or ‘thine;’
With separate ‘I’ and ‘thou’ free love has done,
For one is both and both are one in love:
Rich love knows nought of ‘thine that is not mine;’
Both have the strength and both the length thereof,
Both of us, of the love which makes us one.
