✒️ Writers’ Wisdom ~ Adding a Twist

And I love the twist. I love to fool you once, I love to fool you twice, and on the very last page, quite often – very last paragraph sometimes – I like to just play with your perception one more time in a way that makes everything that came before just a little bit different.” ~ Harlan Coben

🌾 Today’s Poem ~ The Hope of Loving

The Hope of Loving

Meister Eckhart

What keeps us alive, what allows us to endure?

I think it is the hope of loving,
or being loved.

I heard a fable once about the sun going on a journey
to find its source, and how the moon wept
without her lover’s
warm gaze.

We weep when light does not reach our hearts. We wither
like fields if someone close
does not rain their
kindness
upon
us.

🤗 A Better Life ~ Loving the Who I Am

When I love who I am,

the way that I am,

I have no need to put another down to build myself up.

💡 Something to Think About

How many times today have you told the significant person in your life, “I love you?”

When you said, “How was your day, did you really mean it, and probed to find out more?

It’s the little things that make all the difference in a relationship.

Today’s Smile 😃

Joe: “Yesterday, I changed a light bulb, crossed the street, and walked into a bar.”

Pete: “That’s a weird combo.”

Joe: “Yah, my life is a joke.”

🍎 Today’s Health Tip ~ Healthy Holiday Nutrition Tips

    1. Don’t skip meals. Skipping a meal with the goal of saving calories prior to a holiday event can often backfire and lead to overeating due to ravenous feelings of hunger.
    2. Choose your splurges. Scan the buffet or dinner table and choose a couple holiday favorites to splurge on instead of foods that you can have any other day of the year.
    3. Think Color. Make a plate look festive by including fruits and veggies. Aim to cover half the plate.
    4. Choose drinks wisely. Stick to calorie-free drinks, such as water, tea or seltzer. . . .  If you choose to drink alcohol, do so in moderation, and alternate each alcoholic drink with a glass of water.
    5. Visit the people, not the food. Move socializing away from the buffet or appetizer table to prevent mindless eating.
    6. Say no to food pushers (politely).
    7. Savor seasonal treats. Having treats once a year will not make or break your weight. Make sure you take time to really taste and enjoy that special treat when you have it.
    8. Eat until you are satisfied, not stuffed. No one likes that icky, stuffed feeling after a meal. Eat slowly, and check your fullness levels while you’re eating. Remember — there are always leftovers!
    9. Don’t feel guilty. If you did overindulge, don’t beat yourself up. Just make sure your next meal is healthy, and be sure to incorporate exercise into your routine.

👊 Today’s Power Thought ~ Which Will You Choose?

Each day we have a choice between yesterday or tomorrow.

Life favors those who choose tomorrow.

💡 Something to Think About

Those who are capable of loving are happier than those who are not capable of loving. Those who see their own darkness, find it easier to forgive the darkness in others. Those who know how to cry, know how to lough.

✒️ Writers’ Wisdom ~ The Pleasure in Discovering What Your Book is About

“At the time I begin writing a novel, the last thing I want to do is follow a plot outline. To know too much at the start takes the pleasure out of discovering what the book is about.”
