“One of the things I like to say is every day is it’s an awesome day, it’s just up to me to live up to it.” ~ Jonathan Sams

What If . . .
What if I had another hour in the day, what would I do with it. Would I binge watch a series I’ve been wanting to see? Would I sleep in an extra hour? Would I use it to invite friends to a party? Would I use it to pray? There are so many ways I could use the extra hour in the day. The more I think about it,, I like the day the way it is. It’s 24 hours. I can count on it, I like my life, the extra hour would surely complicate matters. Life has enough complications without adding a bunch more.
Today’s Smile
Joe: “My psychiatrist told me I’m suffering from illusions of grandeur.”
Pete: What did you say?”
Joe: “I told my psychiatrist I was enjoying every moment of it.”
A Better Life ~ Setting Worry Aside
I like to watch the birds and geckos in my yard. I don’t imagine they worry about goals, 401K retirement plans, inflation, or recessions. They go about their business working to get by to tomorrow. They seem to balance work and rest. No late nights or nights out with the boys or girls. They offer us several lessons: Strive for a balance between work and rest, work hard today and tomorrow will take care of itself.
Power Thought ~ Never be Satisfied
Never be satisfied, keep learning, keep growing. It works in all parts of our lives: relationships, work, health, and our spiritual life. We’re either growing or decaying. It’s an easy choice, keep growing.
Something to Think About
Relationships can become sticky. I know lots of single folks who tell me they prefer to be alone than be in a relationship. Relationships require work. Good relationships don’t happen. One has to move out of him/herself and move toward the other. Good relationships are like all other good lasting things in life.They all require hard work, constant attention, and nurturing. The reward far exceeds the effort.
Today’s Health Tip ~ Exercise May Reduce Cancer Risk
Want to Stay Healthy – Start Moving
Adults should get at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise, such as biking or brisk-walking, per week. A study that followed 755,459 older adults for 10 years found that those who met these guidelines had a lower risk for at least seven different cancers, including cancers of the colon, breast, uterus, kidney,and liver; myeloma; and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Today’s Smile
Joe: “My girlfriend has a multiple personality disorder.”
Pete: “That’s too bad.”
Joe “It’s not a problem. She’s good people.”
Today’s Poem ~ More Strong Than Time
Since I my pallid face between your hands have laid,
Since I have known your soul, and all the bloom of it,
And all the perfume rare, now buried in the shade;
Since it was given to me to hear on happy while,
The words wherein your heart spoke all its mysteries,
Since I have seen you weep, and since I have seen you smile,
Your lips upon my lips, and your eyes upon my eyes;
Since I have known above my forehead glance and gleam,
A ray, a single ray, of your star, veiled always,
Since I have felt the fall, upon my lifetime’s stream,
Of one rose petal plucked from the roses of your days;
I now am bold to say to the swift changing hours,
Pass, pass upon your way, for I grow never old,
Fleet to the dark abysm with all your fading flowers,
One rose that none may pluck, within my heart I hold.
Your flying wings may smite, but they can never spill
The cup fulfilled of love, from which my lips are wet;
My heart has far more fire than you can frost to chill,
My soul more love than you can make my soul forget
What If . . .
What if you called someone today who is having a down day and said, “Tomorrow will be better than today. Hang in there.” What if you are having a down day and someone called you and said, “Hang in there, tomorrow will be brighter than today.” A few simple words can lift people out of the dumps and bring a smile to their face. The right words make a difference.
