If you were in possession of rare diamond would you give it up without a struggle? We frequently give up something much more valuable than a rare diamond when we give the power to control our feelings to another. Someone makes a negative comment about our appearance and we get depressed. Someone criticizes our work or something we did, we get angry and carry resentment through the day into the night. Don’t give it away. Don’t let them take your happiness, your peace, or your self esteem. Smile, and think if that’s the best they can do, they’ve got a lot of work to do. Then get on with enjoying and embracing the wonderful life you are experiencing.

Poem for Today ~ Poem of Life
Poem of Life
Author Unknown
Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what’s to be,
A resting place along the road,
to sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
but never meant to stay…
Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know.
For some the journey’s quicker,
For some the journey’s slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
We’ll claim a great reward,
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the lord
Feel Good Tip for Today ~ Smile, Step Out & Step Up
Life’s not always easy. No one is immune from the tough times. It’s the only life we have. So we have to suck it up, smile, step out and step up. The other choices are not worth it. Ride the day like the ancient mariner rode the high seas with only a compass and the stars as a guide. You’ll find a safe harbor for a rest before setting out again.
Inspiring Quote for Today ~ Want Things to Turn Out Well?
“Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.”
Poem for Today ~ The Day is Done
The Day is Done
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
The day is done, and the darkness
Falls from the wings of Night,
As a feather is wafted downward
From an eagle in his flight.
I see the lights of the village
Gleam through the rain and the mist,
And a feeling of sadness comes o’er me,
That my soul cannot resist:
A feeling of sadness and longing,
That is not akin to pain,
And resembles sorrow only
As the mist resembles the rain.
Come, read to me some poem,
Some simple and heartfelt lay,
That shall soothe this restless feeling,
And banish the thoughts of day.
Not from the grand old masters,
Not from the bards sublime,
Whose distant footsteps echo
Through the corridors of Time.
For, like strains of martial music,
Their mighty thoughts suggest
Life’s endless toil and endeavor;
And to-night I long for rest.
Read from some humbler poet,
Whose songs gushed from his heart,
As showers from the clouds of summer,
Or tears from the eyelids start;
Who, through long days of labor,
And nights devoid of ease,
Still heard in his soul the music
Of wonderful melodies.
Such songs have power to quiet
The restless pulse of care,
And come like the benediction
That follows after prayer.
Then read from the treasured volume
The poem of thy choice,
And lend to the rhyme of the poet
The beauty of thy voice.
And the night shall be filled with music
And the cares that infest the day,
Shall fold their tents, like the Arabs,
And as silently steal away.

Health Tip for Today ~ Do Artificial Sweeteners Help Weight Loss?
Artificial Sweeteners do not Boost Weight Loss
[According to a US News health newsletter] – Don’t use artificial sweeteners or sugar substitutes if you are trying to lose weight, according to new guidance from the World Health Organization. The global health body said a systematic review of the available evidence suggests the use of non-sugar sweeteners “does not confer any long-term benefit in reducing body fat in adults or children.”
If you’re looking to satisfy your sweet tooth, you’re better off using – in moderation – a natural sweetener instead, such as honey or maple syrup. Most dietitians agree that a sweet tooth is meant to be satisfied. Make one of these dietitian-approved desserts next time you’re craving a little sweetness. If you’re following a keto-style diet, these are the sweeteners considered keto friendly. And if you have diabetes, some sugar intake is allowed. Here’s guidance from a diabetes expert on how much sugar is safe.
