Sun that givest all things birth
Shine on everything on earth!
If that’s too much to demand
Shine at least on this our land!
If even that’s too much for thee
Shine at any rate on me.

Forest Bathing Boosts Immunity: Spending time in nature, particularly in forests, can enhance immune function. This practice, known as forest bathing or Shinrin-yoku, has been shown to increase the number of natural killer cells, which play a crucial role in the immune system’s defense against infections and cancer.
Joe: “My Psychologist told me I have CDO.”
Pete: “What’s that?”
Joe: “It’s like OCD but all the letters are in order.”
What are you thinking about today? Do you have days where some event or person grabs hold of your mind and refuses to leave? I have. The best way I’ve learned to deal with unwanted thoughts that want to hang out with me is to ignore them. I tell the intrusive thoughts (literally) to enjoy the visit but I’m too busy to have a conversation with them. It seems the more we grapple with with our intrusive thoughts, the stronger or more intense the unwanted thoughts get. It’s a lot like having a conversation with someone you know who wants to argue. If you give in and start arguing, the whole thing escalates. It’s exactly what this person wants. I faced this situation a few weeks back when I met a friend at one of my shopping venues. The conversation started out smoothly then he tossed a political topic out. It was gentle enough but the answer I gave him was not the answer he wanted. He escalated it. I said, “I don’t want to have this discussion. I’m going to be on my way. Have a great day.” I left. I saw him two days later and we had another conversation without him delving into politics. I’ll admit I could have tried to change the topic; however, it’s not a smooth transition from politics to how do you make homemade salsa.

HOW should I be the master of my ways
When every nerve is vibrant to the sweep
Of dreams that fill the measure of my days—
Too rare to lose and past all power to keep.
How should I know what it were well to do
When every path has its alluring strain,
Each towering crest its world-revealing view
Of realms for him that has the will to reign;
And while I waver, lo! this earthly shard,
Wherein is breathed the swift compelling fire,
Breaks with the ardor it was shaped to guard.
Yet, ever striving, humbly I aspire
Ere all be spent, with reverent hands to light
A guiding star on some hope-kindling height.
Fidgeting Burns Calories: Small movements, like fidgeting, tapping your feet, or moving around while sitting, can burn calories and help maintain a healthy weight.
Joe: “I love my new orthodontic running shoes.”
Pete: “I think you mean orthopedic running shoes.”
Joe: “I stand corrected.”
