👊 Today’s Power Thought ~ Important Lessons

Sure, criticism hurts. If we dare to listen, our critics are often our best teachers. Take what is good from the criticism, ignore the rest and move on.

✒️ Writers’ Wisdom ~ Writing as a Creative Art Work

“I would like to carve my novel in a piece of wood.”

~ Georges Simenon

🌾 Today’s Poem ~ Dedication

Dedication

Robert W. Service

In youth I longed to paint
    The loveliness I saw;
And yet by dire constraint
    I had to study Law.
But now all that is past,
    And I have no regret,
For I am free at last
         Law to forget.

To beauty newly born
    With brush and tube I play;
And though my daubs you scorn,
    I’ll learn to paint some day.
When I am eighty old,
    Maybe I’ll better them,
And you may yet behold
         A gem.

Old Renoir used to paint,
    Brush strapped to palsied hand;
His fervour of a saint
    How I can understand.
My joy is my reward,
    And though you gently smile,
Grant me to fumble, Lord,
         A little while!

✒️ Writers’ Wisdom ~ Become Sponge Like

“I’m a bit like a sponge. When I’m not writing I absorb life like water. When I write I squeeze the sponge a little – and out comes, not water but ink.”

~ Georges Simenon

💡 Something to Think About

When I taught my change class at the university, I’d begin the first class by placing five twenty dollar bills under a can of Diet Coke on a table. I offered the one-hundred dollars to the first person who could change the can of Diet Coke into a rose. I never lost. The lesson: The only person you can change is yourself.

Today’s Smile 😃

Joe: “I’ll always remember my grandpa’s last words.”

Pete: “What were they?”

Joe: “He said, “Stop shaking the latter, Joe.”

👊 Today’s Power Thought ~ Trust Your Intuition

My first mentor encouraged me to trust my intuition. I followed my mentor’s advice. My intuition has become a very reliable guide. Trust your intuition. It won’t fail you.

🤗 A Better Life ~ Stretch, Reach as far as You Can

How far can you reach? What if you stand on your tip toes? What if you climb on a stool? We can reach much further than we imagine. Dare to reach further than you’ve reached before and see what you catch.
