🌾 Today’s Poem ~ A Time to Talk

A Time to Talk
Robert Frost
When a friend calls to me from the road
And slows his horse to a meaning walk,
I don’t stand still and look around
On all the hills I haven’t hoed,
And shout from where I am, ‘What is it?’
No, not as there is a time talk.
I thrust my hoe in the mellow ground,
Blade-end up and five feet tall,
And plod: I go up to the stone wall
For a friendly visit.

💡 Something to Think About

Some experiences can only be lived. Words can’t describe them. The experiences are etched in us at the cellular level. These types of experiences can make or break us. Let the experiences be a teacher, learn their lessons. Become better not bitter.

🤗 A Better Life ~ Why Be Angry?

Why be angry? Why get worked up over things one can’t control? All anger does is to cause distress. Step out into the sunshine. Listen to music. Invite someone special out for a coffee. There are so many ways we can fill ourselves with joy and happiness.

✒️ Writers’ Wisdom ~ Don’t Worry about What You’re Writing

““Writing is like being in love. You never get better at it or learn more about it. The day you think you do is the day you lose it. Robert Frost called his work a lover’s quarrel with the world. It’s ongoing. It has neither a beginning nor an end. You don’t have to worry about learning things. The fire of one’s art burns all the impurities from the vessel that contains it.” ~ James Lee Burke

🍎 Today’s Health Tip ~ Social Media Can Induce Sadness – Get Away and Get Outside

Get Outside and Away From Social Media for an Immune Booster

Spending too much time on Facebook and other social media platforms can have a detrimental effect on your psychological health, according to a meta-analysispublished in 2020 in the journal Cureus. Reading others’ social media posts can give you the impression that everyone else’s life is better, more interesting and more exciting than your own. That can trigger feelings of sadness.

The fall is a great time to spend more time outside. The leaves are bright on the trees and satisfyingly crunchy under your feet. The (usually) moderate temperatures are a reprieve from the sweltering summer and a gift before the frigid winter. Spending time outside has tremendous health benefits, including boosting your immune system. In addition to improving mental health, sun exposure bolsters vitamin D levels, which help prevent infections.

A smile changes everything. Do a self check. Are you smiling? Are your lips pursed? Is your jaw tight? Try smiling. It changes everything. The sky will be a bit bluer. The sun a bit brighter.

Today’s Smile 😃

Joe: “Our marriage counselor told me I should treat my wife like it was our first date.”

Pete: “How did your respond.”

Joe: “I dropped her off at her parents.”

🍎 Today’s Health Tip ~Give Your Immune System a Pop

Hydrate with tons of water throughout the day, and your immune system will thank you. The foods you eat can also help prevent the cold. Yogurt, with all its probiotic glory, has been shown to boost the immune system, and one serving of seaweed packs more vitamin C than an orange. Another immunity booster? An autumn favorite: Pumpkins. They’re high in beta carotene, which your body converts into vitamin A. In turn, vitamin A helps strengthen your immune system.
