🌾 Today’s Poem ~ Tz’u No. 6 (Waiting For You)

Tz’u No. 6 (Waiting For You)
 Li Ching Chao
Lonely in my secluded chamber,
A thousand sorrows fill every inch
of my sensitive being.

Regretting that spring has so soon passed,
That rain drops have hastened the falling followers,
I lean over the balustrade,
Weary and depressed.

Where is my beloved?

Only the fading grassland
stretches endlessly toward the horizon;
Anxiously I watch the road for your return.

✒️ Writers’ Wisdom ~ Feel What You Write

Writer’s Tip

“I used to be a documentary filmmaker, and a film director once told me: ‘You can’t make a good film unless your hands tremble behind the camera.’ Let us write stories that move us to the core, because when our pen is trembling, the reader can feel it, too.” ~ Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai

🤗 A Better Life ~ Flying Solo

There comes a day when parents have to let their children go. It’s not always easy to see your child flying solo. But it’s necessary. They have to learn the way we did, trial and error. They have to learn the lessons life teaches them. Often, all parents can do is silently watch, pray, and be supportive where possible. Not to worry, they’ll do just fine. After all, they’ve learned by watching you.

When is the last time you tested your limits? When was the last time you took on something that dragged you into unknown territory? When we test our limits, we discover if we have the courage to go the distance.

🍎 Today’s Health Tip ~ 5 Do’s for Healthier Skin

Health Tip: 5 Things to Do for Healthier Skin

Don’t have time for intensive skin care? You can still pamper yourself by acing the basics. Good skin care and healthy lifestyle choices can help delay natural aging and prevent various skin problems. Get started with these five no-nonsense tips.

1. Protect yourself from the sun – One of the most important ways to take care of your skin is to protect it from the sun. A lifetime of sun exposure can cause wrinkles, age spots and other skin problems — as well as increase the risk of skin cancer.

2. Don’t smoke – Smoking makes your skin look older and contributes to wrinkles. Smoking narrows the tiny blood vessels in the outermost layers of skin, which decreases blood flow and makes skin paler. This also depletes the skin of oxygen and nutrients that are important to skin health.

3. Treat your skin gently – Daily cleansing and shaving can take a toll on your skin. To keep it gentle: Limit shower/bath time. Avoid strong soaps. Shave carefully. Moisturize dry skin.

4. Eat a healthy diet – Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. Some research suggests that a diet rich in fish oil or fish oil supplements and low in unhealthy fats and processed or refined carbohydrates might promote younger looking skin. Drinking plenty of water helps keep your skin hydrated.

5. Manage stress – Take steps to manage your stress. Get enough sleep, set reasonable limits, scale back your to-do list and make time to do the things you enjoy. The results might be more dramatic than you expect.

💡 Something to Think About

The mornings are dark in south Texas. I woke early, and decided to go for a walk before breakfast. The sky was clear. I stopped more than once to admire the stars. The Orion constellation sparkled. My heart was flooded with wonder, awe, and gratitude.
