👍 Today’s Good Word ~ Believe

Believe – Def: to think that something is true, or that what someone says is true

What we believe about ourselves often is a predictor of how our life turns out. Researchers have reported that if a patient believes in the doctor’s ability to facilitate his/her healing and the doctor believes the patient will get well the patient has a better outcome than those who don’t hold similar beliefs. Beliefs are not permanent. We can change negative beliefs about ourselves and adopt positive, optimistic beliefs about all aspects of our life. The more we live these beliefs, the more they affect our actions. For example, if I adopt a belief that I am healthy and incorporate the belief into my life, I will adopt a healthy lifestyle.

👊 Today’s Power Thought ~ Clearing Away the Clouds

We don’t have to change the world to make it better, we only have to do what we can do in the space where we find ourselves. We can lend a helping hand. We can offer a listening ear. We can share a compassionate heart. When we do, the clouds clear and a rainbow appears and the world becomes a bit better.

🤗 A Better Life ~ Learning from Life’s Lessons

We’ve all been hit with disappointments, sorrow, and betrayals. They hurt. And, some of them hurt deeply. Yet, in the pain we experience, there is a shining light, there are lessons and truths that we would never discover if we didn’t go through the darkness. The lessons don’t make it easier. If we allow them to act on us, we become better people. Don’t let these experiences make you bitter, let the experiences make you better.

💡 Something to Think About

We are habit driven people. We form habits as naturally as we breathe. Habits make life easier. For example, how often do you think of your going to work habit? It’s as if our feet or other form of transportation does the thinking for us. Our habits are working subconsciously. Habits can also be counterproductive. They can prevent us from becoming the people we are meant to become. Is it time to name and review your daily habits? Once you name them, you can decide wether or not the habit is helping you or harming you. It’s not easy to break a harmful habit. Habits don’t fight fairly, they’ll use smells, sights, and any excuse to keep you hooked. You’re stronger than any harmful habit. You’ll make the right choices. And, if you fall, you rise and begin again.

🤗 A Better Life ~ What’s Important?

Every once in a while it’s good to think about what’s really important in life. One way of thinking about what’s important is think about what we can do without. It doesn’t take long for me to identify what’s important to me:

  • Good health.
  • Family
  • Friends
  • Love
  • Faith in a loving God
  • A job with meaningful work

Everything else is an added benefit.

🌾 Today’s Poem ~ The City is Peopled

The City is Peopled

H. D.

The city is peopled
with spirits, not ghosts, O my love:

Though they crowded between
and usurped the kiss of my mouth
their breath was your gift,
their beauty, your life.

👍 Today’s Good Word ~ Appreciate

Appreciate: Def (1) to understand how good something or someone i; (2) to feel grateful for something

When we regularly appreciate others, events, other things in our life, our worldview changes. We become open to a world filled with possibilities. We seek the good in others and in ourselves. We take a moment to appreciate the beauty of a flower, the flight of a bird, the laughter of children at play. Today, tell someone how much you appreciate them and tell them why. You’ll make their day.
