🍎 Today’s Health Tip ~ Is Watermelon Rind Nutritious?

Wondered if the Watermelon Rind was Eatible?

It sure it. And, it has beneficial nutrients. Watermelon rinds have an amino acid called citrulline. It can help get rid of nitrogen in your blood and can also help ease pain if you have sore muscles. In fact, the rind has more citrulline than the juicy flesh. If you’re not keen on eating the rind raw, there are other ways to prepare and eat it. You can pickle it, juice it, or stir fry it like a vegetable.

If you plan to munch on a watermelon rind, make sure you wash it thoroughly. I wash my watermelons before I slice them. If you don’t wash them first, your knife could carry bacteria from the watermelon’s surface to area the knife passes through.

👍 Today’s Good Word ~ Hopeful

Hopeful – Def: feeling good or confident about something in the future

Hope is the fuel that gets us from today to tomorrow. Being hopeful generates in us an inner confidence tomorrow will be better than today. Hope-filled people see opportunities, love, and happiness appearing all along their day’s journey.

🌞 Today’s Inspiration ~ Learning and Changing

“A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.”

~ Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.

🤗 A Better Life ~ Creating a Field of Opportunities

There are some things I may not like, but I have to accept, like a rainy day when I’m planning a picnic. Why get upset over things we can’t change? Instead, learning to accept and work with things we can’t change opens up whole new ways of thinking and doing. In the example, instead of going on a picnic why not take in a movie? There are many options if we open ourselves to them and a seeming disappointment, becomes a field of opportunities.

🍎 Today’s Health Tip ~ Strawberries are a Nutritional Powerhouse

Nutritional Benefits of Strawberries

The heart-shaped silhouette of the strawberry is the first clue that this fruit is good for you. These potent little packages protect your heart, increase HDL (good) cholesterol, lower your blood pressure, and guard against cancer. Packed with vitamins, fiber, and particularly high levels of antioxidants known as polyphenols, strawberries are a sodium-free, fat-free, cholesterol-free, low-calorie food. They are among the top 20 fruits in antioxidant capacity and are a good source of manganese and potassium. Just one serving — about eight strawberries — provides more vitamin C than an orange. . . .Choose medium-sized berries that are firm, plump, and deep red; once picked, they don’t ripen further.

Today’s Smile 😃

Joe: “My mom says that the best way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.”

Pete: “That’s nice.”

Joe: “It’s not working out. Her malpractice suit isn’t going so well.”

🌾 Today’s Poem ~ Meeting at Night

Meeting at Night

Robert Browning

The gray sea and the long black land;
And the yellow half-moon large and low:
And the startled little waves that leap
In fiery ringlets from their sleep,
As I gain the cove with pushing prow,
And quench its speed i’ the slushy sand.

Then a mile of warm sea-scented beach;
Three fields to cross till a farm appears;
A tap at the pane, the quick sharp scratch
And blue spurt of a lighted match,
And a voice less loud, through joys and fears,
Than the two hearts beating each to each!

👊 Today’s Power Thought ~ Is It Time to Leap?

Do you have a great dream? What are you waiting for? There is never the right time and perfect set of circumstances to take flight for your dream. The key to catching the dream is to leap into the unknown without a safety net. When we confidently leap to chase our dream, life sends us all the support we need. It was waiting for us to have the courage take our leap.

💡 Something to Think About

Feeling stuck? Don’t know what to do? Don’t wait for someone to knock on the door to do whatever you need to do for you. Do something,anything, now.  If it doesn’t work, do something different. When we are immobile, we’re going nowhere, we remain frozen. It’s better to take a chance, fail, and try again. Chances are good that whatever you choose to do will work out.
