All of our paths, unique to each of us, converge as we search for the deepest meanings in our lives. We may use our paths to run away from discovering the deepest meaning in our lives. Yet, life has a curious way of pulling us back toward the search. The wise ones discover the deepest meanings in life early on. They are the mystics, sages, or prophets who see things the rest of us have yet to see. For many, the discovery of the deepest meaning in life is like peeling an onion, layer by layer. It takes time and patience. It’s worth the effort.

Today’s Smile
Joe: “I told my girlfriend I have a fear of going to buffets.”
Pete: “What did your girlfriend say?”
Joe: “She said I have to learn to how to help myself.”
A Better Life ~ Master Your Fears
Don’t let your fears convince you they are speaking the truth. When we confront our fears and act in spite of them, our fears run for cover for they have met their master.
Today’s Power Thought ~ Be True to Yourself
Being true to yourself often means separating yourself from others. It can be a lonely walk, in the end, you’ll know you’ve chosen your path, for better or worse, walked it with your head held high, and embraced every moment of the journey.
Today’s Inspiration ~ We Can Always Begin Again
“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”
What If . . .
What if we dared to work together for the common good? We do it when tragedy strikes; we don’t have to wait until we are pushed against the wall to act A former doctoral student gave me a small sculpture of five human figures standing in a circle holding hands. The circle is unbroken. One hand clasps the hand next to it until the circle is completed. The sculpture is a daily reminder to me that together we do much more, much sooner than we do alone.
Today’s Health Tip ~ Do You Know the Differences Between Plant and Animal Protein?
The Difference Between Animal and Plant Protein
Protein is made up of chains of molecules known as amino acids. There are 20 amino acids found in nature that your body can use to build protein. Out of these 20 amino acids, 9 are considered essential, which means that your body cannot produce them itself, so you need to get them from your diet. The remaining 11 amino acids are considered non-essential, as your body can produce them from the 9 essential amino acids. Animal protein contains all nine essential amino acids in sufficient amounts. Plants also contain all nine essential amino acids — however, besides a few exceptions, most typically offer a limited amount of at least one essential amino acid. For instance, beans, lentils, peas, and many vegetables tend to contain low amounts of cysteine and methionine. On the other hand, grains, nuts, and seeds tend to be low in lysine.
A Better Life ~ What Hands are For
Hands are made to hold. Hands are made to touch in love. Hands are made to create. Hands are made to work.
What If . . .
What if I could start over, what would I do? I’ve given this some thought. I think about some of the things I didn’t like; then I realize without those things I wouldn’t be me. I like me. I like the road I’ve traveled. It’s my road paid for with bumps, bruises, and scars. I like where I am and where I’m headed. If I had a choice to start over, I’d let it pass me by. How about you?
Today’s Health Tip ~ Your Fingernails Have Clues About Your Health
What Do Your Fingernails Say About Your Health?
Did you know your nails can reveal clues to your overall health?
- White nails, also known as leukonychia, describes fingernails that are partially or completely white in color. The white color could be the result of several things such as trauma, anemia, dietary deficiencies, heart or kidney disease, or even poisoning.
- If the nails are mostly white with darker rims, this can indicate liver problems, such as hepatitis. In this image, you can see the fingers are also jaundiced, another sign of liver trouble.
- One of the most common causes of yellow nails is a fungal infection. As the infection worsens, the nail bed may retract, and nails may thicken and crumble. In rare cases, yellow nails can indicate a more serious condition such as severe thyroid disease, lung disease, diabetes or psoriasis.
- If the nail surface is rippled or pitted, this may be an early sign of psoriasis or inflammatory arthritis. Discoloration of the nail is common; the skin under the nail can seem reddish-brown.

- A touch of white here, a rosy tinge there, or some rippling or bumps may be a sign of disease in the body. Problems in the liver, lungs, and heart can show up in your nails.
