A Better Life ~ Forever Young

Those in great relationships know that a heart in love is forever young. Age is only a number when each day overflows with love. The lovers know each other as well as they know themselves. Heart to heart they nurture love and a brilliant aura surrounds them healing wounds, tightening the bonds that tie each to the other. It’s all good.

Today’s Smile

Joe: “I complained to my wife that our son is spoiled.”

Pete: “What did she say?”

Joe: “She said, “Don’t worry about it. He smells just like the other kids.”

Today’s Poem ~ Tell Me

Tell Me
ean Toomer
Tell me, dear beauty of the dusk,
When purple ribbons bind the hill,
Do dreams your secret wish fulfill,
Do prayers, like kernels from the husk
Come from your lips? Tell me if when
The mountains loom at night, giant shades
Of softer shadow, swift like blades
Of grass seeds come to flower. Then
Tell me if the night winds bend
Them towards me, if the Shenandoah
As it ripples past your shore,
Catches the soul of what you send

Today’s Inspiration ~ You Have Life’s Mission

“We are all here for some special reason. Stop being a prisoner of your past. Become the architect of your future.”

~ Robin Sharma

A Better Life ~ What are You Creating?

We’re all novels in progress. We’re writing a new chapter each day from sunrise to sundown. We never have writer’s block since our writing is the acting out of our lives. The people who come into our lives our among the characters in our novel. Some will appear briefly. Others will be part of the drama that unfolds as we live each day. Writers create. Since we are writing our novel with each waking moment, we can choose what we want to happen in our novel. We can create the life we want to live. We’ll have our ups and downs, we can create how we respond to each of them. We can write a great novel with our lives.

Something to Think About

When we go to school we have a prescribed set of knowledge to learn. We’re tested on the knowledge and given a grade. In many ways we really never stop going to school. Each day of life we are given lessons to learn. Sometimes the lessons are hard and we suffer in learning them. Other times, the lessons are easy if we’re willing to listen. The more willing we are to learn life’s lessons when life teaches them to us, the more easily we’re able to navigate our way through life. It takes a willingness to learn and an open mind to see and learn life’s lessons.

Today’s Smile

Joe: “I went to the doctors with a suspicious looking mole.”

Pete: “What did the doctor say?”

Joe: “He said I should have left the mole in the garden, they all look the same.”

Today’s Health Tip ~ Is What Your Smelling Good For You?

It May Smell Good, But Is It?

About 4,000 chemicals are currently used to scent products, but you won’t find any of them listed on a label. Fragrance formulations are considered a “trade secret” and therefore protected from disclosure – even to regulators or manufacturers. Instead, one word, fragrance, appears on ingredients lists for countless cosmetics, personal care and cleaning products. A single scent may contain anywhere from 50 to 300 distinct chemicals. . . .

But there are resources for shoppers striving for a fragrance-free lifestyle, and the selection of unscented products continues to increase. The Environmental Working Group keeps databases on safe cleaning productsand personal care products, including fragrances. BWW offers a pocket guidefor black consumers and salon workers on top chemicals to avoid. BCPP encourages consumers to buy unscented products from companies committed to chemical disclosure, avoid products with fragrance or parfum on the label, and wear protective gear when working with fragranced cleaning products.

Power Thought ~ Taking Control

When we toss a ball against a wall, the ball strikes the wall and bounces back to us. When we react without thinking to what others say to us, we are like a ball tossed against the wall. The moment, we stop reacting and take control of our emotions, the person speaking to us no longer can toss us against the wall. We’ve shown that we can choose how and when we want to respond.

What If . . .

What if you didn’t ask “How was school?” or “How was work?” Instead, you said, “Tell me about something good that happened to you at school (or work) today?” You’ll get a totally different response. You won’t get the shoulder shrug and “it was okay.” You’ll probably get a look that questions your sanity. LOL If you don’t get an answer, ask again, “C’mon, something good happened today and I want to hear all about it.” You are sending two messages, one, you’re deeply interested in what happened. And, two, you’re willing to listen and and ask follow up question to get a clearer picture of the event. The person sharing will feel good because he/she will be recalling something good in his/her life.
