What if I saw things more clearly?

What if I saw things more clearly? I have excellent vision. I don’t wear glasses, but I don’t see things as clearly as I should. I can clearly read a printed page, but am I aware of how another person feels or what another person is experiencing when I am in that person’s company? Being aware requires a different type of sight. It is heart-sight. Heart-sight sees what the eyes don’t recognize. Heart-sight sees pain, sorrow, and the need for human kindness. I have a neighbor who has 20./20 heart-sight vision. She sees what other neighbors don’t see. She is a blessing to the neighborhood.

Today’s Poem ~ Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

Robert Frost

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Where are you going?

Where are you going? Don’t Know? That’s a good thing. You’re not trapped into one way of thinking or being. When we’re not trapped into a single path, every path is open to us. We can pick and choose, try one out, if it doesn’t work, try another. There’s no need to worry about choosing a path, you’ll figure it out. One day you’ll look back and know you were on the right path all along.

Today’s Health Tip ~ What is the Best Fish to Eat for Heart Health?

When it comes to a heart-healthy diet, fish is an essential component. It’s a better choice than other animal protein sources like beef, pork and poultry,. That’s because fish is higher in heart-healthy unsaturated fats while land-based animal protein contains more saturated fats, which is linked to raising cholesterol levels. According to an April 2019 study published in Food and Chemical Toxicology, swapping red meat for fish is linked to a longer, healthier life. . . .  Fish is also a great source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids, which can help decrease cholesterol levels and high blood pressure, as well as lower the risk of abnormal heartbeats and slow the growth rate of atherosclerotic plaque, according to the American Heart Association (AHA).

The AHA recommends eating at least two servings of fatty fish a week. This includes eating a variety of the following types of fish:

    • Salmon
    • Mackerel
    • Herring
    • Lake trout
    • Sardines
    • Albacore tuna

Today’s Joke

Pete: “What was his sentence?”

Joe: “He got twelve months.”

Today’s Positive Thought ~ You Are Not Your Past

“I can’t go back to yesterday – because I was a different person then (Lewis Carroll).” Yesterday is an illusion, its only connection to reality are our memories and how we choose to interpret memories (e.g. photos, digital material). Where it’s happening is now. When we let our memories decide who we are or how we should act, we become prisoners to the past. We’re different now than we were then. We’ve paid our dues. We are free from our past. We have experiences that taught us important lessons. Let the past go and live today. Good things are coming your way. The only way you can see them is if you are looking ahead.

Today’s Inspiration ~ Choose to Live

“I must choose between despair and Energy – I choose the latter.”

~ John Keats

Think About It ~ It’s Time to Believe the Impossible is Possible

In the tale, Alice in Wonderland,  the Queen says to Alice, “Sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.” The queen was responding to Alice’s comment, “IOne can’t believe impossible things.” The queen tells Alice she hasn’t had much practice. That’s a good lesson for all of us. We don’t let ourselves believe in impossible things often enough. Perhaps we need to listen to the queen and give it some practice. What’s something you’ve wanted or wanted to do, but felt it was impossible. Is it time to make the impossible possible. I think so.

Today’s Poem ~ Sonnet XXV

Sonnet XXV

Pablo Neruda

Before I loved you, love, nothing was my own:
I wavered through the streets, among
Objects:
Nothing mattered or had a name:
The world was made of air, which waited.

I knew rooms full of ashes,
Tunnels where the moon lived,
Rough warehouses that growled ‘get lost’,
Questions that insisted in the sand.

Everything was empty, dead, mute,
Fallen abandoned, and decayed:
Inconceivably alien, it all

Belonged to someone else – to no one:
Till your beauty and your poverty
Filled the autumn plentiful with gifts.
