“It’s just the garbage in/garbage out trick. If you’re not taking any fiction in, good or bad, then how can you be spitting any back out (good or bad)? I can’t even imagine trying to write without reading. Really, I can hardly write a novel at all if I’m not reading just book after book.”
~ Stephen Graham Jones

🍎 Today’s Health Tip ~ Want to Eat Healthy?
10 Tips for Healthy Eating
-
-
- Choose good carbs, not no carbs. Whole grains are your best bet.
- Pay attention to the protein package. Fish, poultry, nuts, and beans are the best choices.
- Choose foods with healthy fats, limit foods high in saturated fat, and avoid foods with trans fat. Plant oils, nuts, and fish are the healthiest sources.
- Choose a fiber-filled diet, rich in whole grains, vegetables, and fruits.
- Eat more vegetables and fruits. Go for color and variety—dark green, yellow, orange, and red.
- Calcium is important. But milk isn’t the only, or even best, source.6
- Water is best to quench your thirst. Skip the sugary drinks, and go easy on the milk and juice.
- Eating less salt is good for everyone’s health. Choose more fresh foods and fewer processed foods.
- Moderate drinking can be healthy—but not for everyone. You must weigh the benefits and risks.
- A daily multivitamin is a great nutrition insurance policy. Some extra vitamin D may add an extra health boost.

🌾 Today’s Poem ~ Are You Loving Enough
Some one you hold as the dearest of all
In the holiest shrine of your heart.
Are you making it known? Is the truth of it clear
To the one you love? If death’s quick call
Should suddenly tear you apart,
Leaving no time for a long farewell,
Would you feel you had nothing to tell—
Nothing you wished you had said before
The closing of that dark door? Are you loving enough?
Oh, faster and faster they hurry away,
And each one carries its dead.
The good deed left for the by and by,
The word to be uttered another day,
May never be done or said.
Let the love word sound in the listening ear,
Nor wait to speak it above a bier.
Oh the time for telling your love is brief,
But long, long, long is the time for grief.
Are you loving enough?

🤗 A Better Life ~ There Will Always Be a Place for You
The world needs more people who listen, who will help lift another’s burden, who will lift another’s spirits. Are you one of these people? There will always be a place for you. You are sorely needed.
💡 Something to Think About
Safety needs are near the base of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. How safe is it for people to be around you? Do you judge, criticize, condemn, or fix? When we set aside judgment, condemnation, and desire to fix others, we create a safe environment where others can share their deepest fears and seek guidance. We all need safe spaces at different times in our lives.
🌞 Today’s Inspiration ~ Hold Fast to Your Dreams
“Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.”
~ Langston Hughes
🌾 Today’s Poem ~ Come With Me, I Said, And No One Knew
where, or how my pain throbbed,
no carnations or barcaroles for me,
only a wound that love had opened.
I said it again: Come with me, as if I were dying,
and no one saw the moon that bled in my mouth
or the blood that rose into the silence.
O Love, now we can forget the star that has such thorns!
That is why when I heard your voice repeat
Come with me, it was as if you had let loose
the grief, the love, the fury of a cork-trapped wine
the geysers flooding from deep in its vault:
in my mouth I felt the taste of fire again,
of blood and carnations, of rock and scald.
