Joe: “There have been a lot of break-ins in the parking garage where I work.
Pete: “That’s too bad, Joe.”
Joe: “It’s wrong on lots of levels.”

Each time we face a challenge and defeat it, we become stronger for the next challenge. Challenges roll in like ocean waves. We get a break in between waves; however, a wave is always rolling toward us. Don’t fear the waves, life has prepared you for whatever it brings.
It’s easy to find fault. All of us carry a bullseye on our shirts. What if we sought to find good in each other instead of fault? Our world view immediately changes. Is it time to change channels?
Imagine extending your arms out straight to your sides and serving as a pipe. Now, imagine a spigot on each of your wrists. If both spigots are open, water flows through. If you turn off one spigot, the flow stops. It’s the same way with love. Receiving love is one spigot and giving love is the other spigot. Both spigots have to be open for love to flow through the pipe. To receive love, we have to give love.
“When you’re building a character, or at least when I’m building a character, you start saying, ‘How am I going to make people like him?'” ~ John Sandford
Joe: “My brother, Jim was diagnosed with multiple personalities.”
Pete: “That’s too bad, Joe.”
Joe: “It’s working out, he’s good people.”
Once we’ve locked into our thoughts, listening and cooperation leave the room. Is it possible to keep an open mind? Is it possible to listen to alternative explanations without becoming defensive? If you are one who listens, keeps an open mind, and sets aside defensiveness, the world needs you.
In broad daylight, yesterday,
I read a poet’s mystic lay;
And it seemed to me at most
As a phantom, or a ghost.
But at length the feverish day
Like a passion died away,
And the night, serene and still,
Fell on village, vale, and hill.
Then the moon, in all her pride,
Like a spirit glorified,
Filled and overflowed the night
With revelations of her light.
And the Poet’s song again
Passed like music through my brain;
Night interpreted to me
All its grace and mystery.
It’s tough to let go of the past especially when the past was filled with good memories. We can’t hang out in the past, memories can’t feed us or keep us warm at night. Be grateful for the good memories and walk into the day knowing the past gave you the strength to keep moving forward. Never quit.
