🌾 Today’s Poem ~ Who Has Seen the Wind?

Who Has Seen the Wind?
Christina Rossetti
Who has seen the wind?
Neither I nor you.
But when the leaves hang trembling,
The wind is passing through.
Who has seen the wind?
Neither you nor I.
But when the trees bow down their heads,
The wind is passing by.

🍎 Today’s Health Tip ~ There is a Relationship Between Gratitude & Good Health

Research shows that expressing gratitude offers several physical, mental, social and emotional benefits.  Here are just some of the benefits of expressing gratitude:

  1. It helps you combat mental health issues. When you are grateful, you feel positive emotions that release dopamine, the feel-good chemicals in your brain. This helps ward off mental health issues like stress, anxiety and depression.
  2. It may improve your physical health. Studies show that people of all ages who consider themselves to be grateful have fewer health issues than those who don’t. . . . Those who express gratitude had fewer headaches, respiratory infections and gastrointestinal issues, along with healthier hearts.
  3. It can help you sleep better. If positive, grateful thoughts are running through your head as you try to fall asleep rather than a replay of stressful events, you’re more likely to fall asleep and sleep more soundly.
  4. It may increase your self-esteem. When you feel grateful, you’re more likely to think of yourself in a more positive light because you’re less likely to compare yourself to others.
  5. It helps you build and nurture strong relationships. When you express feelings of gratitude to other people, you’re also more empowered to talk about any concerns you may have about your relationship. All of this may result in stronger and more trusting relationships, with both participants feeling valued.

🌞 Today’s Inspiration ~ The Miracle of Life Surrounds Us

“Do not wait for life. Do not long for it. Be aware, always and at every moment, that the miracle is in the here and now.”

~ Marcel Proust

✒️ Writers’ Wisdom ~ What Words are You Using in Your Stories?

“In the most basic way, writers are defined not by the stories they tell, or their politics, or their gender, or their race, but by the words they use. Writing begins with language, and it is in that initial choosing, as one sifts through the wayward lushness of our wonderful mongrel English, that choice of vocabulary and grammar and tone, the selection on the palette, that determines who’s sitting at that desk. Language creates the writer’s attitude toward the particular story he’s decided to tell.”

~ Donald E. Westlake

Joe: “My doctor said, “Okay, you’re overweight.”

👊 Today’s Power Thought ~ We Don’t Stand Alone

The moment we realize we don’t stand alone, we begin to glimpse the great potential that surrounds us. We don’t stand alone and we don’t have to do it alone. We can do it together to create a common good.

💡 Something to Think About

There are times when we do things in hindsight we regret. Stop, think about the consequences. Imagine the course you’re about to embark on goes viral on the Internet. How will that make you feel? Temporary pleasures are not worth the long lasting pain.
