Today’s Poem ~ Unsubdued

Unsubdued

S.E. Kiser.

 I have hoped, I have planned, I have striven,
    To the will I have added the deed;
  The best that was in me I’ve given,
    I have prayed, but the gods would not heed.

  I have dared and reached only disaster,
    I have battled and broken my lance;
  I am bruised by a pitiless master
    That the weak and the timid call Chance.

  I am old, I am bent, I am cheated
    Of all that Youth urged me to win;
  But name me not with the defeated,
    To-morrow again, I begin.

Today’s Good Word ~ Storytelling

Everyone loves a good yarn. When we listen to a good storyteller the storyteller transports us into the story. We feel as if we are a part of it. In reality, each of us is a storyteller. We go to work on Monday and tell stories of our weekend. We tell stories of our family. We tell stories of our dreams. Throughout our day we are telling stories. We can tell stories of the darkness in our lives and we can tell stories of the sunshine in our lives. The more we tell and retell the good stories, the ones that light us up, the more we will be inspired to create similar stories.

Today’s Power Thought ~ Keep On

There are times when people will see you dancing and singing and they will think you’ve lost your mind. Keep dancing and singing you’ve found your path.

Today’s Health Tip ~ Is It Important to Lose Belly Fat?

It’s Time to Lose a Little Around the Middle

Excessive abdominal fat, or visceral fat, is a uniquely harmful type of fat distribution that is linked to an increased risk of cardiometabolic diseases like type 2 diabetes and heart disease. For this reason, your waist size and waist-to-hip ratio may be much stronger markers of health than your weight.

Cutting refined carbs, eating more protein and fiber, and reducing stress (which can reduce cortisol, a stress hormone that triggers abdominal fat deposition) are all strategies that may help you get rid of belly fat.

A Better Life ~ Go With the Flow

It’s not always a challenge. Go with flow you’ll go further, faster, and last a lot longer. Smile a lot more. Laugh deeply. Play music and dance with your partner. Enjoy the ride.

Today’s Smile

Joe: “Every morning I tell my girlfriend I’m going jogging, but then I don’t go.”

Pete: “What did she say?”

Joe: “She laughs, it’s a running joke.”

Today’s Good Word ~ Focus

What we focus on grabs hold of our attention and energy. If our focus isn’t leading us to a good space, we can change what we are focusing on. Focus on the things and people who are important to you. Focus on things that will lead you to live a happier, more fulfilled life. Focus on ways to love those close to you. What we focus on determines, in great part, the quality of our lives.

Today’s Health Tip ~ Want a Happier Life?

Keep Company with Good People.

Maximize the amount of time that you spend with people you enjoy being around. Connecting with others who radiate positivity and have similar interests will excite and energize you.

On the other side, people you don’t relate to you or who have negative outlooks, complain often, or make poor choices will only drain your energy account. Be selective about the company you keep.

It’s important to set limits and boundaries to protect yourself and conserve your energy when around people who do not refill your energy reserves.

Something to Think About

When we love another, we no longer think about ourselves, we think about the other. Whatever we do, we do for the other. It’s as if, after a long search, we finally found ourselves in the other. We wonder what life was like before we met the other. I hope you’ve found love in your life and it never lets go of you.

Today’s Poem ~ Encouraged

Encouraged

Paul Laurence Dunbar

Because you love me I have much achieved,
Had you despised me then I must have failed,
But since I knew you trusted and believed,
I could not disappoint you and so prevailed.
