There is an Australian proverb, “None are so deaf as those who would not hear.” I’ve been around these kinds of folks. If possible, get away from them as soon as possible. They’re toxic and they will drag you into the pit. When we associate with people with an open mind who are willing to engage in a dialogue the impossible quickly becomes the possible.

A Better Life ~ We Can Meet Any Challenge
When life puts us to the test, unknown doors within us open and previously unknown sources of strength surge through us to meet the challenge.
Something to Think About
I know a person who sends dog memes to friends who have dogs. She likes to brighten her friends’ days and make them smile or have a chuckle. It only takes her a minute or two and she has made a difference in someone else’s life. It doesn’t take much to brighten another’s day. Whose day are you going to brighten today. You’ll make a big difference and put a shine on their face.
What If . . .
What if I gave up multi-tasking, would I feel better? All of us do it. We try to simultaneously juggle multiple tasks. It can be stressful keeping so many balls in the air. What if I did one task at a time, completed it, and moved on to the next task. I may feel like I am walking in slow motion, yet the opposite may be true. As we complete each task and move on to the next, we get a strong sense of accomplishment without adding excess stress.
Today’s Inspiration ~ Create Your Own Story
“You are the storyteller of your own life, and you can create your own legend, or not.”
Today’s Smile
Joe: “Yesterday at work, I did nothing.”
Pete: “What are you going to do today?”
Joe: “I’m going to finish what I was doing yesterday.”
Today’s Power Thought ~ What Paths are You Creating?
An African proverb reads, “A path is made by walking.” We create our paths by the work we consistently do each day. We wear them down until they are well worn. When you look back on the paths you’ve made, are they the paths you’re happy with? If not, today’s a new day and you have the power to begin creating a new path.
Today’s Health Tip ~ Practice Self Care
Setting aside time to practice self-care may help reduce your stress levels.
Practical examples include:
- going for a walk outside
- taking a bath
- lighting candles
- reading a good book
- exercising
- preparing a healthy meal
- stretching before bed
- getting a massage
- practicing a hobby
- using a diffuser with calming scents
- practicing yoga
Studies show that people who engage in self-care report lower levels of stress and improved quality of life, while a lack of self-care is associated with higher risk of stress and burnout.
Taking time for yourself is essential in order to live a healthy life. This is especially important for people who tend to be highly stressed, including nurses, doctors, teachers, and caretakers.
Self-care doesn’t have to be elaborate or complicated. It simply means tending to your well-being and happiness.
Exposure to certain scents via candles or essential oils may be especially calming. Here are a few relaxing scents:
- lavender
- rose
- vetiver
- bergamot
- Roman chamomile
- neroli
- frankincense
- sandalwood
- ylang-ylang
- orange or orange blossom
- geranium
Using scents to boost your mood is called aromatherapy. Several studies suggest that aromatherapy can decrease anxiety and improve sleep.
A Better Life ~ Today is a Gift
Did you realize there’s a great big gift waiting for you? It’s today. Yes, it’s today with all its flourishes, nuances, and chaos. Today is just not another day. Today is the day you are meant to shine. You’ll sparkle like a rare diamond. Take each day as a gift and embrace it. We’re fortunate to have it.
Today’s Poem ~ Free Love
But it is otherwise with thy love which is greater than theirs,
and thou keepest me free.
Lest I forget them they never venture to leave me alone.
But day passes by after day and thou art not seen.
If I call not thee in my prayers, if I keep not thee in my heart,
thy love for me still waits for my love.
